The Worlds 2021 Play-in knockout stage bracket has been set

Both groups that make up the first round of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship Play-in have been decided, and subsequently, the bracket for the Play-in knockout stage has been set. Six teams will compete to see who secures the last two spots in the group stage of the main event of Worlds 2021. 

 

The Play-in format for Worlds 2021 began by featuring two groups of five teams each. Each group would play a single round-robin and following the conclusion of the group, the 1st place teams immediately qualify for the group stage of the main event of Worlds 2021. The 3rd and 4th place teams of each group then will play against one another in a best-of-five series, with the winner of each series facing the 2nd place team from the opposite group.

 

The winners of those two best-of-series' secure the final two group stage spots at Worlds 2021, but the teams who finish last in each group are the first two teams eliminated from the event.

 

 

Ultimately, it was Infinity Esports and Unicorns of Love who were eliminated from Group A and Group B, respectively, while LNG Esports and Detonation FocusMe, the respective 1st place teams from both groups, qualified for the Worlds 2021 main event and skipped the entire knockout stage.

 

 

The first matchup of the Worlds 2021 Play-in knockout stage will be between Turkish Championship League representative Galatasaray Esports and #2 seed from the Pacific Championship Series Beyond Gaming, who finished 3rd and 4th in Group B, respectively. On the other side of the bracket, League of Legends Championship Oceania representative PEACE and Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends representative Red Canids, 3rd and 4th in Group A, will face off as well.

 

The losers of these two matchups will be eliminated, while the winners will move on to the next round. The winner of the Group A teams will face off against Cloud9, who finished 2nd in Group B, and the winner of the Group B teams will face off against Hanwha Life Esports, who finished 2nd in Group A. The winners of these two best-of-five series' will join DetonatioN FocusMe and LNG Esports in filling out the group stage of the main event of Worlds 2021.
