After its most recent loss to FlyQuest, Counter Logic Gaming's record through 14 games of the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Spring Split has fallen to 3-11. At 11 losses, CLG has become the second team after Golden Guardians to be mathematically eliminated from qualifying for the 2021 LCS Mid-Season Showdown, which takes place after the Spring Split.

The Mid-Season Showdown has taken the place of the LCS Spring Playoffs for the 2021 season, but still features the top 6 teams from the Spring Split with the champion moving to represent North America at the Mid-Season Invitational. The name change is due to the combination of the spring and summer split records, which both factor into a team's record when the top 8 LCS teams qualify for the Summer Playoffs later this season to decide who represents NA at the World Championship.

Golden Guardians lost its 11th game of the Spring Split against Team Liquid on Friday, March 5, which mathematically eliminated the Golden State Warriors affiliate from competing in the Mid-Season Showdown. At 3-10, CLG would have had to win every single one of its remaning games in the split to even have a chance to qualify for the Mid-Season Showdown.

Against FlyQuest, CLG got off to a good start, continuing its 100% First Blood rate thanks to a solo kill by Eugene "Pobelter" Park on opposing mid laner Cristian "Palafox" Palafox, but as the game continued to rage back and forth, FLY was able to gain the upper hand and eventually, win.

For now, CLG will have to put any thoughts of competing in the LCS Mid-Season Showdown aside. At 3-11, CLG are still in 9th place in the LCS, and if it can continue to show improvement as it has throughout its past few games, it can continue to make up its win/loss deficit and head into summer with as close to a clean slate as possible.
