Not many expected such a sweep from Afreeca Freecs, but on day 15 of the 2021 LCK Spring split, they took down T1 2-0 in the first match of the day. The jungler for AF, Lee “Dread” Jin-hyeok, was named Player of the Game (PoG) for his performance on Olaf and Graves in game 1 and 2 respectively.

The following is an interview with the jungler for AF, Dread.

How does it feel to take the victory tonight over T1?

Today’s victory over T1 was a comeback victory, so I feel that it’s very valuable.

Speaking of comebacks, AF clawed back from behind in game 2 to overtake T1. How much did the team believe that they’ll be able to win during the game?

I felt that the game was very hard until I solo killed Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon’s Zoe. In that moment, the team felt the momentum shift in our favor, and we told each other, ‘This is winnable. Let’s win this game’. After that, we were on the same page.

What do you think are the main reasons behind AF’s improvement?

All my other teammates were good players to begin with, so I feel that my individual improvement contributed a lot to the team’s improved performance.

How satisfied are you with your own performance tonight?

I’m pretty satisfied overall, because while there were many games where we lost our solid leads, today’s the first time that we won from behind. Today’s match was a valuable experience.

Many people say that you’re very inconsistent. Thoughts?

Whenever I’m behind, I have this tendency to create variance. If I make a mistake in that process, I tend to fall behind even further. There were many matches like such, so I think that’s why I’m being evaluated in such a way.

It was revealed that there are moments where you see things differently than Son “Lehends” Si-woo. How’s your synergy with him right now?

Today, we were 100% in sync. As I work with him more, I can feel the performance levels rising.

Is 2021 the year that AF sheds the nickname, “The Gatekeepers of the LCK”?

I think all teams would like to avoid being called that (laughter). The goal for this year is to rank high in the standings, make it to playoffs, and shed the nickname, 'The Gatekeepers'.

Lastly, a word to your fans.

Although I feel that I’m performing a lot better in recent days, I know I can do better, so please continue to support our team, Afreeca Freecs. Thank you.
