Bwipo defends All-Star 1v1 champion title in LEC; Licorice, Deft & YuxiaoC win LCS, LCK & LPL 1v1s

Due to event restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Riot Games was forced to pivot for the 2020 installment of the League of Legends All-Star Event. To make sure everything could be played online, the tournament's format was adjusted so that the four major regions of North America, Europe, China, and South Korea could each have their own event, with NA playing EU and CN playing KR at the conclusion of each region's respective events.

For the past few seasons, ASE has become a more casual affair after the long and arduous League of Legends esports season, and the segmented, online nature of ASE 2020 only furthered this trend. However, each region's bracket for the RedBull 1v1 tournament was the most competitive portion of the event, and the fact that it featured four winners did not diminish the excitement.

The LCK concluded first with DAMWON Gaming support Cho "BeryL" Geon-hee facing off against Hanwha Life Esports AD carry Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu in the finals. BeryL, a former AD carry himself, showed impressive mechanics on more than just support champions throughout the event, and took the first game against Deft, but when all was said and done, Deft was able to battle back and secure the 2-1 victory.

The LPL was next to conclude and featured TOP Esports jungler Hung "Karsa" Hao-Hsuan against surprising finalist and streamer/cosplayer "YuxiaoC." The 2-0 result of the finals was expected, but what was unexpected was that YuxiaoC came out as the victor.

In the LEC, Fnatic top laner Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau, who won the ASE 2019 1v1 event, defended his crown domestically against German mid laner Frederik "NoWay" Hinteregger. It was a clash of styles between NoWay's pinpoint accuracy on long-range, skillshot-centric mages and Bwipo's Shen and his merry band of bruisers.

Bwipo ended up taking the win against NoWay, and at least as far as Europeans are concerned, defended his 1v1 title.

Lastly, the LCS finals featured FlyQuest top laner Eric "Licorice" Ritchie and retired professional mid laner Hai "Hai" Lam.  The Radiance owner looked pretty sharp for being a few years into retirement, but it was Licorice who ended up taking the 2-0 victory in the finals. Of the four 1v1 champions, three are top lane mains, with Deft being the sole AD carry main to bring home the gold.
