CBLoL bets on franchised model, here are the teams that are in for 2021

Riot Games Brazil has officially announced the ten teams that will be participating in the 2021 season of CBLoL.

The franchised model had started to be implemented in the middle of the year, with the goal of maintaining competitive integrity as well as allowing for the professional League of Legends players to have better infrastructure.

Each franchise slot costs around R$ 4,4 million, which goes for about $900,000. The acceptance process of joining CBLoL requires a comprehensive business model analysis as well as the infrastructure they will be provided to players, brand longevity, and in some cases, the financial situation of the buyer.

Below are the teams that will be in CBLoL, starting in 2021:

Cruzeiro

Falkol Prodigy

Flamengo e-Sports

FURIA

INTZ

KaBuM

LOUD GG

paiN Gaming

RED Canids

Rensga

With the implementation of franchises, teams will have solid ground to step on in the tournament, meaning that relegation will not be a threat. What that means to the current “Challenger Circuit”, the second division tournament in the region, is that it will be substituted by some sort of Academy league, which has not been announced yet.

CBLoL’s academy league will allow players that are not in the main roster to actively play, allowing them to pursue improvement and to possibly move up to the main tournament shall they find success in their division.
