DRX Deft: "When I look at my teammates, it’s like watching kids’ talent shows."

On the 25th (KST), DRX defeated SANDBOX Gaming in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split. In the match, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu played Varus, Kalista, and Senna to contribute to the team’s victory.

After the match, Deft talked about Varus not being banned. “Varus is clearly one of the best ADCs. There’s no clear counter to him during the laning phase. However, he doesn’t have any moving skills so there are weaknesses. If there are clear counters, it would be alright to leave him unbanned.

“As for today, all the other top-tier ADCs were banned so we didn’t have any pressure in picking Varus,” said Deft, and added, “Actually, Varus is left unbanned quite frequently during scrims, so I had enough practice. It’s not much different in the laning phase; since I win the laning phase, it’s fun.”

Deft also spoke about his teammates. “When I look at my teammates, it’s like watching kids’ talent shows.” About the player who makes him laugh the most, he answered, “It used to be Pyosik, but nowadays, just watching Doran eating chips makes me laugh.”

DRX will be playing against Afreeca Freecs on Sunday. On his opponent, Deft said, “Since Afreeca Freecs’ Mystic has been doing well recently, I’ll try harder.”
