Historically, empires have risen and fallen throughout millennia and one of the most powerful in history is coming to Legends of Runeterra.

Titled Empires of the Ascended, Riot Games on Thursday announced the upcoming 110 card expansion is set to go live on March 3rd in their digital card game. Centered around a new arid and deserted region, Shurima, players will soon be able to get their hands on nine unique champions and additional content.

A cinematic trailer was revealed alongside the expansion's announcement that teases players as to what (and who) they can expect Shurima to revolve around.

“We're super excited for everyone to finally experience the glorious new region, Shurima. For this set, we've really tried to go 'next level' in cinematic moments, novel mechanics, and big plays. We can't wait to see what you do with it when it goes live!”, says Mark Sassenrath, Design Lead for Legends of Runeterra’s Empires of the Ascended expansion in a statement.

Prior to the expansion's launch in March, the game's development team will be teasing cards coming across the game's social platforms.
