NEOWIZ's 'Brown Dust 2' will modify certain costume assets exclusively for the Korean client starting on the 30th. The changes affect three items: the cutscenes for the 'Nightmare Palette' and 'Retired Legend Olivié' costumes, and the presentation and imagery for the 'Retired Legend Olivié' secret event. With this, South Korea becomes the second region, following Germany, to operate on a separate build.

In a broadcast on the 28th, PD Lee Jun-hee stated, "We have decided to modify the depictions to comply with Korean laws and rating guidelines. This was a necessary measure to continue service in Korea." Lee explained, "We explored every possible way to maintain the service without modifications, including offering the original version through stores other than Google and Apple. However, because this is a requirement under Korean law, we had no choice but to apply it to all services provided in the country."

He continued, "If we did not comply, we would have been unable to continue service in Korea. We decided that continuing the service with a modified build was a better choice for our players than shutting it down entirely."

PD Lee identified three specific rating criteria that necessitated these changes: direct depictions of specific body parts, the presence of related bodily fluids, and excessive depictions where users can directly and specifically induce suggestive acts through interaction. He added, "Since it would be worse to have to make further modifications after an update, we intend to produce all future content in accordance with these standards as much as possible."

App market risks were also addressed. Lee noted, "We have already accumulated a significant number of warnings from Google and Apple. While nothing has been decided, Google and Apple apply even more conservative standards than the Korean rating guidelines, so we are currently monitoring the situation closely."

As compensation, all users will receive 4k free Diamonds regardless of whether they own the affected costumes, and owners of the modified costumes will receive an additional 2000 free Diamonds per costume. Those who wish to request a refund will receive 13400 free Diamonds per costume, along with the resources used for enhancement. Further details will be provided via an official notice.

In January, Brown Dust 2 announced plans to modify character and costume designs but retracted them three days later following backlash, pledging to provide services tailored to regional characteristics rather than modifying content. PD Lee said, "We promised through a developer note earlier this year that we would maintain the service without content modifications, and the entire team takes the fact that we could not fully keep that promise very seriously. We once again sincerely apologize to all the Masters who feel inconvenienced and disappointed."
