Game company NEXUS has launched Frost Kingdom, a strategy simulation game (SLG) that the company has described as the world's first Web3 SLG.

Frost Kingdom is NEXUS' first independently published title. According to a release, the game pairs a medieval strategy setting with a 'Merge' system, in which players combine buildings and troops to speed up their progression.

The game features more than 100 unit types alongside a four-tier system for collecting and levelling up heroes. It is available on ONEstore, iOS, Android and PC, with a domestic Korean version and a global version that carries full blockchain functionality. HTML5 support means the game can also be played directly in a web browser without any installation.

In the release, NEXUS pointed to the long-term commercial performance of the SLG genre worldwide, citing titles such as Whiteout Survival, which it said ranked first for global mobile game revenue.

How Frost Kingdom's tokenomics work

The global version of Frost Kingdom links blockchain to the game's economy. Its token, $RDIA, can be converted into Red Dia, one of the game's core in-game currencies. The token's total supply is capped at 500,000, which the company said was designed to increase scarcity and keep the currency stable.

NEXUS added that 5% of the game's revenue will be collected in a reward pool. Players who hold $RDIA can earn $ONEUSD — the common unit used across the ecosystem — in proportion to the amount of the token they hold.

The title has also launched fully integrated with the wider ONE ecosystem. On the quest platform ONEquest, domestic players can earn ONEstore points for completing missions, while global players earn $ONE tokens. On streaming platform ONEwave, users can produce guide and gameplay videos and receive rewards based on how much their content contributes to activity in the game.

NEXUS' plans for the ONEChain platform

Henry Chang, CEO of NEXUS, said: "The SLG genre has proven its global appeal through the combination of resource competition, territorial strategy, and alliance dynamics."

Chang added: "Starting with Frost Kingdom, we will continuously expand our game lineup so that titles across diverse genres can connect with players worldwide on the ONEChain platform."

The launch follows a rebrand within the CROSS ecosystem. The CROSS mainnet is now called ONEChain, its native token is ONE, and the ecosystem's common unit has been designated $ONEUSD.
