Smilegate announced on Thursday (the 9th) that 'Chaos Zero Nightmare' (hereinafter 'Chaos Zero Nightmare'), a dark fantasy roguelike RPG developed by Super Creative and serviced by Smilegate, has undergone a major main story overhaul and introduced new content, including the new combatant 'Fay'.
The revamped main story covers chapters 1 through 5 of Act 1, which was originally released at the game's official launch. The updated story significantly expands on the game's world-building and character narratives, offering a fresh gameplay experience. Notably, the entire story has been fully re-recorded with new voice acting rather than just text changes, effectively conveying the updated details and the characters' emotional arcs.
New combatant 'Fay' and her partner 'Luixiang' have also been added. Fay, who was previously released in China alongside the game's official launch there and received much acclaim, is now available in the domestic and global versions. As a Void-attribute Ranger class, Fay accumulates 'Advent' effects whenever allies draw cards, allowing her to use the powerful attack card 'Falling Sky'. Additionally, she can chain follow-up attacks through her unique 'Flame Dance' effect. Players can also explore her hidden past through the newly added 'Trauma Code' story for Fay.
Various new systems have been introduced to 'Sortie,' the original roguelike content in Chaos Zero Nightmare. First, a ranking system has been added to Hardcore Mode, allowing players to view the top 100 rankings. A 'Combat Data' system has also been introduced, where players can earn 'Titles' by completing missions specific to each combatant. Finally, 'Chaos Core Decisive Battle' has been added, which can be accessed by meeting specific conditions during 'Deep Layer' battles in Sortie; victory in these battles grants additional rewards.
Two new 'Core' items have been added that allow players to edit their saved data. Among them, the 'Mutation Core' provides a 'Mutation' function that grants various additional effects to save data, such as increased damage.
Meanwhile, to celebrate the update, Smilegate is hosting events such as the 'Monster Arena,' where players can battle using monster cards to earn rewards, as well as attendance events. Furthermore, the company plans to release information about the upcoming new season of Galactic Disaster through its communication channel, 'Galaxy Network News,' and preview content.
Kim Ju-hyung, Business Division Head at Smilegate, stated, "We have put a great deal of effort into this early main story overhaul to enhance its quality, and we hope players enjoy it. We also plan to introduce a variety of new content to ensure that the end of Season 3 is a satisfying experience."
Additional information about Chaos Zero Nightmare can be found on its official communities on 'X' and 'YouTube,' as well as the official STOVE website.
