The Gyeonggi Content Agency (President Tak Yong-seok) announced on the 26th that it will begin full-scale operation of the 2026 Content Legal Service Support Project, targeting content startups and creators in Gyeonggi-do, starting on the 27th.
With the recent rise in global popularity of K-Content, copyright Cases of infringement and illegal distribution are also continuously increasing. Accordingly, the Gyeonggi Content Agency has newly established this program to fill the gaps in existing legal support services and to help content companies build their own response capabilities before disputes arise. The core of this program is one-on-one customized expert consultation on intellectual property rights and copyrights with patent attorneys. It provides practical advice that companies actually need in the field, such as copyright ownership, strategies for securing intellectual property rights, and the review of key clauses in content contracts. In cases where the likelihood of dispute is high or in-depth legal interpretation is required, separate consultations referral to lawyers are also available. Consultations are provided once per company as a standard, and supplementary consultations are available if necessary. While support is primarily provided via offline methods, non-face-to-face sessions via online video conferencing systems are also possible if needed. Submitting relevant materials, such as contracts or infringement cases, in advance will allow for a smoother and more in-depth consultation. In addition, the Gyeonggi Content Agency plans to produce and distribute a guidebook on responding to illegal distribution that content companies and creators can practically utilize in the field. The guidebook contains detailed analyses of major infringement types and step-by-step response methods, and will also be provided in PDF format through the startup platform. Furthermore, during future training sessions and events, on-site consultation booths will be operated to provide close support, enabling participating companies to resolve their questions regarding intellectual property rights and copyrights on the spot. To apply for legal consultation, you can register your company information in advance through the Gyeonggi Content Startup Permanent Support Platform operated by the Gyeonggi Content Agency and then apply online. When applying, you can select the consultation field and upload relevant materials, and all consultation history is systematically managed. In addition, a self-assessment checklist for legal issues is provided on the platform before consultation, allowing companies to conduct preliminary checks on their own. An official from the Gyeonggi Content Agency stated that they will focus on practical preventive support to ensure that content companies are not disrupted by unexpected legal issues, and encouraged companies interested in protecting copyrights and intellectual property rights to actively apply and take advantage of the benefits.
