On the 24th, the BitSummit Executive Committee announced the 2027 schedule for BitSummit, the largest indie game festival in the country, along with this year's major award winners. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the three-day 'BitSummit PUNCH' event.
BitSummit is a premier indie game festival held annually in Kyoto, Japan. What began in 2013 as a small, peer-led gathering with only 200 attendees has grown into a key gateway for the global indie game market, drawing over 58k visitors in 2025.
The upcoming 15th edition of the event will take place over three days, from May 21 to 23, 2027, at Miyako Messe in Kyoto. With the event dates now set, general exhibitor applications are expected to open in earnest around November.
Alongside the schedule announcement, this year's award winners were unveiled. '60 Bottles,' co-developed by Matrix Co., Ltd. and HINATA Inc., took home the 'POPULAR SELECTION AWARD,' which is determined by direct visitor voting. The 'KIDS SELECTION AWARD,' based on votes from children, was awarded to 'Finding Polka' by lidlocks.
The awards ceremony and the announcement of the next event location can be viewed in the live streaming archive on the official YouTube channel. Further information about the event is available on the official BitSummit website.
