Tencent and the Game Culture Foundation announced on the 19th that they have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster a sustainable global game ecosystem and promote the cultural and social value of games.
The signing ceremony, held at the Game Culture Foundation, was attended by Danny Marti, Head of Global Public Affairs and Policy at Tencent, and Yoo Byung-han, Chairman of the Game Culture Foundation, who discussed the direction of their partnership and future plans.
Starting with this agreement, the two organizations plan to co-host global game policy and culture symposiums and launch various joint projects to raise awareness of the cultural and social influence of games and support the sustainable growth of the gaming industry.
Danny Marti expressed his pleasure in engaging in meaningful discussions on the cultural and social value of games and contributing to the long-term growth of the global game ecosystem, adding that Tencent will continue to support the development of the Korean game industry and ecosystem as a trusted partner. Chairman Yoo Byung-han responded by noting that games have the power to transcend borders and connect people from different cultures, and pledged to foster a healthy and responsible gaming culture through close cooperation with industry partners.
Beyond this agreement, Tencent continues to collaborate with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) to support the growth of the domestic game industry and nurture next-generation talent. As part of these efforts, they successfully concluded the 'Next Level, Tencent Talks' seminar on the 18th, co-organized with the Game Institute, a specialized game development training center located in Pangyo.
The seminar featured speakers Lee Jung-ho, Senior Game Analysis Insight Manager at the Tencent Game Research Center, and Choi Da-yeon, Business Development Manager at Tencent Cloud Korea and Global Business Planning Division, who provided in-depth insights into global game development processes and creative strategies.
The event drew particular attention for showcasing the latest AI technologies applied to game development, such as Tencent's Hunyuan 3D generation engine. Participants explored the shifts in creative environments driven by AI and examined how game developers can leverage these technologies to build more compelling narratives and enrich player experiences.
Tencent plans to continue expanding its engagement with the domestic ecosystem by taking the lead in nurturing next-generation talent, building on its solid partnerships with key industry players such as the Game Culture Foundation and the Korea Creative Content Agency.
