Samsung Electronics has unveiled the designs and key features of two new Android XR-based AI glasses developed in collaboration with Google.

On May 19 (local time), at the 'Google I/O 2026' event held at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California, the two companies showcased eyewear-style devices created in partnership with global brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. These products are hands-free companion devices that sync with smartphones, allowing users to control Google's AI, Gemini, using only voice commands without manual operation.
These AI glasses are the first to reveal their specific form factor since Samsung and Google announced their collaboration with global eyewear brands in December 2025. The lineup includes a Gentle Monster model, which emphasizes a unique, bold style, and a Warby Parker model, which features a traditional, classic design. Both are engineered as lightweight frames for comfortable, all-day wear. The devices represent a fusion of Samsung's hardware technology and Google's personalized AI services.
Technically, the devices do not feature a display; instead, they are equipped with built-in speakers, microphones, and cameras. This structure allows the glasses to perceive the user's surroundings in real time and execute various functions through voice commands alone, eliminating the need for manual interaction. Designed as companion devices to augment core Galaxy smartphone features, they enable advanced AI control without the user needing to take their phone out of their pocket.
Users can call upon Gemini, synced with their smartphone, to receive navigation directions, get local business recommendations, or place orders via voice. The glasses support real-time voice translation that reflects the tone of the speaker, as well as a translation system that recognizes and reads aloud text from menus or signs within the user's field of view.
The devices also include features such as summary notifications for messages received on the smartphone and the ability to add calendar events via voice. Notably, the built-in camera allows users to instantly capture and record scenes in their view without needing to manipulate a separate device.

Kim Jung-hyun, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics' MX Business, stated, "This AI glass is a significant milestone in expanding Samsung's AI vision," adding, "We will focus on providing a more meaningful user experience by extending the Galaxy ecosystem." Shahram Izadi, Vice President of Android XR at Google, also explained, "By combining Samsung's hardware leadership with the premium designs of our eyewear partners, we will deliver a natural, hands-free experience."
Kim Hankook, CEO of Gentle Monster, and Dave Gilboa, co-founder and CEO of Warby Parker—both of whom joined the collaboration—also emphasized that the product is a result of merging technology with the core design philosophy of eyewear.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics announced that the two AI glasses are scheduled for official release in the second half of this year, with detailed product specifications to be disclosed at a later date.
