The model that best symbolizes the Japanese automaker Toyota is undoubtedly its flagship sedan brand, the Crown. While the price of any car varies wildly depending on the options, what if you could get the feeling of sitting in a Toyota Crown for roughly 10% of its base price?

Toyota Boshoku, a Toyota subsidiary responsible for the design and manufacture of automotive interior systems and products, has unveiled the 'Crown Seat Desk Chair' (hereinafter 'Crown Chair'), based on the electric front seats used in the Toyota Crown. Limited to 70 units in Japan, it is priced at $3,500 (approximately ₩5.15 million, based on the exchange rate as of April 27, 2026), which is about 10% of the base price of a Toyota Crown.

I’ve tried to recall the various "automotive brand collaboration chairs' I’ve seen over the years, but honestly, they all pale in comparison to this Crown Chair. It’s not just a superficial design; it reportedly replicates the actual front seat of the Toyota Crown, which is already well-regarded for its comfort.

It features power adjustments, ventilation and heating, a built-in battery, and the kicker: a seatbelt buckle that isn't just a prop, but actually supports USB-C functionality. The power adjustment allows you to control the backrest angle, height, lumbar support, and tilt—not manually, but electronically. The ventilation and heating can also be adjusted across three levels.

The chair is finished in automotive-grade leather, with high-density cushioning and a reinforced frame to further enhance seating comfort. The company noted that it collaborated with Japanese office furniture manufacturer Itoki on the chair's basic structure and framework.

While I personally want one right now, I also think this could set a new benchmark for the market, proving what a "premium chair" should look like at this scale. I don't own a Crown or this chair, so I have no way of knowing exactly how accurate the replication is, but it’s certainly an interesting endeavor.
