The identity of the new game project 'AGE1000' has been officially revealed as 'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.'

BANDAI NAMCO unveiled a new trailer for AGE1000 during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 in Los Angeles on the 20th, confirming the official title as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. The project, which was only introduced by its codename during the 40th-anniversary event, had been widely anticipated after a teaser video was mistakenly uploaded as 'Xenoverse 3' on some regional official YouTube channels.

At the event, Dragon Ball franchise executive producer Akio Iyoku and producer Masayuki Hirano officially announced the title, putting an end to the speculation. The previously revealed 'AGE1000' refers to a distant future not covered in the original series. Since the Dragon Ball world typically takes place in the AGE 700s, the game is set more than 200 years after the original story.

The development team introduced the title as a project in which the late creator Akira Toriyama was deeply involved. They had asked him to conceptualize the future of the Dragon Ball world in AGE 1,000, and his creative vision forms the foundation of the game's world-building and story. Consequently, the setting, the appearance of the future, and the roles of the characters all originated from Toriyama's ideas. Furthermore, he had been involved in the project for a long time before his passing, and the character designs are based on his original artwork.

The identity of the white-haired character seen in the trailer fighting holographic enemies and transforming into a Super Saiyan was also revealed. As expected, this character is the protagonist and a playable character, maintaining the series' concept where the player themselves becomes the hero of the Xenoverse.

In terms of gameplay, the title appears to be carrying over and significantly improving upon the core mechanics of its predecessor. The development team also emphasized that 'as many users enjoy the game together online, we hope everyone experiences this new Dragon Ball world together,' suggesting that the game will maintain its multiplayer-focused structure.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, the first official entry in the series in about a decade, is slated for release in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Meanwhile, the event also shared information on the Dragon Ball Super TV anime 'Galactic Patrol' arc and the 'Dragon Ball Super: Enhanced Edition - Dragon Ball Super: Beerus,' which is set to be released this fall.
