On the 7th, the official Netflix One Piece account released a title teaser and confirmed that the third season will be titled 'THE BATTLE OF ALABASTA.' The announcement also set a 2027 release date, signaling a shorter wait time between seasons compared to the two-year gap seen previously.
This announcement comes less than a month after the release of Season 2. Given the early positive reception and commercial success that paved the way for the next season, the timeline reflects confidence in a 2027 debut. Filming for Season 3 is currently underway in Cape Town, South Africa, as it was for previous seasons.
Following the success of Season 1, Netflix began preparing for Season 3 well before the release of Season 2; information about the third season appeared on the Writers Guild of America list as early as February of last year. Production was officially announced in August, and filming began in November, even before Season 2 premiered. Compared to the two-year hiatus between the end of Season 1 filming and the start of the next, it appears the production team is moving quickly to adapt the original One Piece story at a faster pace.
Season 3 will pick up where Season 2 left off, featuring the full-scale arrival of Crocodile, the mastermind behind Baroque Works, as the battle for the fate of Alabasta unfolds.

Released in March of this year, One Piece Season 2, titled 'Let's Go to the Grand Line,' covered the journey from the entrance of the Grand Line to Chopper joining the crew as a doctor on Drum Island. The season spanned various locations including Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, and Little Garden, featuring characters and plotlines involving Smoker, the Rumbar Pirates, Laboon, Baroque Works, Vivi, Dorry and Brogy, Chopper, and Dr. Hiriluk. Notably, Episode 7, which delved into the backstory of Chopper and Dr. Hiriluk, received high praise, earning a 9.4 rating on IMDb.
The season as a whole was also well-received. Like its predecessor, it topped viewership rankings in major countries upon release and maintains strong scores on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 100% Tomatometer rating from critics and a 95% audience score. Original creator Eiichiro Oda’s deep involvement as an executive producer—further developing additional settings and exploring character relationships not covered in the original work—has heightened anticipation for Season 3.
Filming for Netflix's One Piece Season 3 is scheduled to continue through June of this year. Considering the post-production timelines of previous seasons, the series is expected to premiere in the summer of 2027.
