XD Games has revealed that Sword of Convallaria, the tactical pixel-art RPG that blends nostalgia with modern storytelling, will soon feature a special crossover event with CD PROJEKT RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
The upcoming collaboration marks a major step for Sword of Convallaria, which has built a global following since its release for its combination of strategic depth and emotional world-building. Players navigate the fractured realm of Iria, a kingdom on the brink of chaos, where every decision affects the outcome of war and peace.
Developed with an orchestral soundtrack and detailed pixel visuals, Sword of Convallaria has been celebrated as a spiritual successor to classic tactical RPGs such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre. It emphasizes grid-based combat that rewards tactical foresight, while also offering squad customization, hero recruitment, and branching narrative choices that impact the story’s tone and resolution.
Two Worlds Collide
XD Games confirmed that the crossover with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will introduce new content inspired by Geralt of Rivia’s world, though specific details remain under wraps. The event is expected to merge Convallaria’s distinctive art direction with The Witcher’s mature storytelling and moral complexity.
The collaboration follows a string of successful updates for Sword of Convallaria, including its first anniversary celebration and a previous crossover with Delicious in Dungeon. The partnership with CD PROJEKT RED marks its most ambitious event to date, uniting two beloved fantasy universes known for their character-driven narratives and richly designed worlds.
While XD Games has not disclosed a release date for the event, the studio stated that more information will be shared in the coming weeks. Fans can expect new gameplay mechanics, limited-time quests, and exclusive rewards tied to the crossover.
Both Sword of Convallaria and The Witcher 3 have earned acclaim for their artistry and depth, and this collaboration aims to honor both legacies while offering players a fresh tactical adventure.
