TFT’s New Set K.O. Coliseum Unleashes Anime Style and Power Ups

Riot Games on Thursday launched “K.O. Coliseum,” the 15th set of its League of Legends–themed auto-battler, Teamfight Tactics. True to TFT’s tradition of fresh mechanics each season, K.O. Coliseum introduces an anime-inspired visual style and a new “Power Up” system designed to deepen strategic play.

Under the new theme, every champion and ability receives an animated makeover. Gwen, for example, weaves glowing threads to slice through multiple opponents, while five-cost Braum channels a pro-wrestler persona, stunning foes, slamming them into the mat and even bouncing low-health enemies outside the ring. Dozens of cosmetic touches—from Prestige Mini Spirit Blossom Ahri skins to dimensional rifts reminiscent of anime portals—aim to bring a spirited, cartoon-style flair to the board.

The Power Up system allows players to enhance a chosen unit mid-combat, granting bespoke buffs such as bonus attack speed, shielding or area-of-effect damage. Because Power Up can be reassigned each round, players must weigh whether to bolster frontline bruisers or glass-cannon carries as battles evolve. Michael Sloan said the team is very excited to see how players will devise imaginative tactics by combining the set’s animation-inspired look with its new Power Up mechanic.

TFT Paris Open

TFT’s competitive scene is expanding alongside the new set. Beginning Aug. 29, the upgraded Pro Circuit will span four regions, featuring three tournaments tied to successive sets. A 32-player field—including six qualifiers from Korea—will vie for championship points, with each match streamed from the players’ point of view.

In December, the inaugural TFT Paris Open will bring 768 competitors to Porte de Versailles for three days of offline play, developer panels and influencer showcases. The event follows successful stops in Las Vegas and Macau in previous years. More information about K.O. Coliseum and the upcoming esports calendar is available at the official Teamfight Tactics website.
