Harvesting a victory: Relic talks about the decision to pick Probius against Tempest

In the first game of a series between GLuck and Tempest recently, the decision was made to draft a hero who does not see play not only in Korea but globally, Probius.

Relic, GLuck’s Assassin main who would be piloting the protoss probe,  laughed with glee on stream as he knew the opportunity to shine was there...or face flack by the Korean community. Through the help of a Korean translator, I was able to get some insight on Relic's Probius strategy

“My team always believes in surprising picks if someone is confident about the specific hero. I insisted I will pick Probius, and they just believed in me. We also practiced using Probius. The only thing we were worried about was the Korean community reaction."

With a lot of the action on Infernal Shrines taking place around the tight objectives, Relic was able to maximize the power of Probius’ Photon Cannons against the bunched opposition. The draft Tempest put together against them also allowed Probius to do what he does best: control the lanes, stay alive and nab mercenary camps to provide global pressure.

“Tempest did not have enough hard CC in the game. Probius is powerful when enemy heroes don't have much CC. If they don't have [a strong lane presence], Probius is also useful. Probius can push multiple lanes quickly and my teammates can have more freedom since they don’t have to care much about pushing lanes. Teammates should roam more, hunt camps and stay calm during team fights while Probius can push lanes safely,”

Relic went on to talk about the build he used against Tempest while providing some insight into the strengths of each talent when he could.

Gather Minerals (E) -- Quest: Enemy Heroes and Minions drops Minerals when killed. COllect them to increase the Health of Photon Cannons by 8, up to 560. Reward: After collecting 70 Minerals, Photon Cannons deal 35% more damage, can see over obstacles, and reveal nearby Cloaked Units.

Q-talent doesn't have risk, but it doesn't give not much reward either. I did not pick W-talent as well because of the battleground. E-talent is the most common build, and it has a synergy with Lv7 talent.”

Turbo Charged (Z) -- Worker Rush grants an additional 10% passive Movement Speed while in a Power Field, and its cooldown is reduced by 10 seconds.

There was not enough hard CC skills from enemies, so I picked Z and 10% speedup build to keep distance from enemies and Probius can roam more.”

Tower Defense (E) -- When Photon Cannon damages an enemy Hero, its cooldown is reduced by 1.25 seconds.

I think Lv1 and Lv 7 talents bring together an amazing synergy in terms of damage dealing. For Lv4, 13, and 16, Probius get more utility.”

Pylon Overcharge (R1) -- (Cooldown 80 seconds) Increase the size of Pylon power fields and allow them to attack enemies within it for 96 damage per second. Lasts 10 seconds.

This ultimate is essential to Probius due to Probius' low damage potential.”

Shield Battery (Trait) -- Pylon’s Power Field grants allied Heroes 28 Shields per second, up to 112. Shields persist for 2 seconds after exiting a Pylon Power Field.

This talent supplies more shield, so Probius gains sustainability.”

Gravity Well (W) -- Enemies are slowed more the closer they are to the center of the Warp Rift, up to a maximum slow of 60%.

“I chose this talent really to slow enemy heroes.”

Construct Additional Pylons (R1) -- Probius can now have up to 3 active Pylons, and increase the damage of Pylon Overcharge by 25%.

“I chose this talent to improve Probius' damage potential, and more Pylons is always useful.”
