PUBG MOBILE Global Open Season 1 surpasses 1m registrations

PUBG MOBILE Esports has announced that the 2026 PUBG MOBILE Global Open (PMGO) Season 1 has surpassed one million registered participants, a milestone revealed as the title marked its eighth anniversary.

According to a release, registrations for the tournament opened on February 5th and welcomed players from more than 200 countries and regions. The company said the figure reflected its wider ‘Battlegrounds for Everyone’ vision, which aims to create a more accessible route into competition for both amateur and professional players.

The Road to PMGO is now underway, with national and regional qualifiers running from March to May. Teams are competing for points through eliminations and final placements, with the strongest sides advancing to the Main Event.

The 2026 PMGO Season 1 Main Event is set to take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from June 2nd-7th. There, established professional teams will compete alongside newly-qualified amateur rosters for a share of the $500,000 (~£375,000) prize pool.

According to the release, the format is designed to highlight PUBG MOBILE Esports’ pathway from grassroots competition to the international stage. The publisher added that the event will showcase both veteran organisations and emerging talent, with qualification still ongoing across multiple regions.

The tournament also forms part of PUBG MOBILE Esports’ wider 2026 calendar. According to the release, PMGO Season 1 will lead into other major events later this year, including the 2026 PUBG MOBILE World Cup (PMWC) and the 2026 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC).

For PUBG MOBILE Esports, the one million registration mark offers an early indicator of continued global interest in its competitive ecosystem. It also gives the publisher a strong opening story for 2026 as mobile esports operators continue to focus on broadening amateur participation alongside top-tier competition.
