Yogscast Games has revealed new details about Rhell: Warped Words & Troubled Times as part of its ongoing deep dive series, focusing on the protagonist’s character development ahead of the game’s March 12th release.
According to a release, the latest video in the series explores how player choices shape not only the world around Rhell, but also her personal journey of self-discovery.
Developed by indie studio SlugGlove and published by Yogscast Games, the title is set to launch on Steam on March 12th 2026.
Player choice at the centre of Rhell’s story
The newly published deep dive follows two earlier videos outlining the game’s mystical setting and its spell-casting systems. This time, the focus shifts to narrative progression and how emotional development is woven into gameplay mechanics.
After an unexplained event causes people to vanish, Rhell sets out in search of answers. According to the release, the game’s systems are designed so that progression is not purely mechanical. Instead, decisions made by players influence both story outcomes and Rhell’s personality.
The adventure unfolds through interactions with a small group of non-playable characters (NPCs) who remain in the altered world. These exchanges are intended to ground the narrative and provide context to player-driven decisions.
Alice Jarratt, Game Creator at SlugGlove, commented on the design approach: “One of the most endearing parts of Rhell’s character arc is that she isn’t instantly charming. She starts out brash and guarded, but as the story unfolds, her journey begins to soften her personality.
“That transition is something we deliberately designed and forms a core part of the gameplay experience.”
According to the release, players are given a high degree of control over how Rhell evolves, with choices impacting how she perceives herself and how others respond to her.
Yogscast Games’ indie publishing focus
Founded in 2017, Yogscast Games works with independent developers to publish titles designed to be both entertaining to play and engaging to watch. The publisher is known for backing smaller teams, including PlateUp!, which has sold over two million copies on Steam, and Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers, which reportedly generated over $1m (~£790,000) in its first month.
The deep dive series appears to form part of the publisher’s promotional strategy ahead of launch, offering players additional insight into the game’s systems prior to release.
