Netmarble Reveals New Sura Region and Trailer for MONGIL: Star Dive at G-STAR 2025

Netmarble unveiled a new trailer and introduced “Sura,” a Korean-inspired region for MONGIL: STAR DIVE, during its showcase at G-STAR 2025 on Thursday.

The new region continues the story following the 9th Brigade — Esther, Flare and Reina — and shifts the setting to Naksan, a village where humans, dokkaebi and various demi-human groups live side by side. The update also marks the start of a new storyline for Mina, one of the franchise’s most popular characters.

The trailer gives the first in-depth look at Naksan’s landscapes and characters, incorporating Korean cultural elements through traditional architectural designs, symbolic motifs and vivid color palettes. Newly revealed characters Jiwon and Gabi, part of the Korean-themed “Sangun” line, also appear in the footage.

New Region, New Characters

Players entering Sura will confront bosses rooted in Korean folklore, including Duoxini, a dokkaebi-inspired foe, and Hahnul, a character influenced by the historical Tiger Hunter military unit. Visitors at Netmarble’s booth at G-STAR 2025 can try early gameplay and attend programming such as live stage challenges, influencer-led boss fights and developer Q&A sessions.

Netmarble also released a developer commentary video outlining adjustments planned for the game following global closed beta testing. Upcoming changes include expanded narrative content, adjustments to character ascension progression, and increased accessibility to gold and other critical resources. The team is additionally working on making Monsterlings — the game’s capture-and-evolve companions — easier to acquire, while refining UI and overall player convenience.

Global pre-registration for MONGIL: STAR DIVE is available through the official website, the Epic Games Store, Google Play and the App Store. Early sign-ups will receive Francis, a 4-star character, while community milestones will unlock additional rewards such as the exclusive Mollumander Monsterling.

A sequel to the 2013 title Monster Taming, MONGIL: STAR DIVE uses Unreal Engine 5 to deliver updated visuals, tag-team combat and a system that allows players to capture and equip Monsterlings in battle.
