NCSOFT opened G-Star 2025 with an unexpected reveal: Horizon Steel Frontiers, a new large-scale MMORPG developed in collaboration with Sony’s Guerrilla Games. The announcement included a debut trailer, developer commentary, and new key art for the project, which marks the Horizon franchise’s first major expansion into the MMO genre.

The game is set in the Deadlands, a new region within the Horizon universe. According to NCSOFT, Horizon Steel Frontiers incorporates the series’ familiar machine-hunting action while adding systems tailored for an MMORPG, including deep combat customization and expanded player freedom. The title is being developed for cross-platform play on mobile devices and PC via NCSOFT’s PURPLE platform.

A new brand website for Horizon Steel Frontiers launched alongside the announcement, offering additional trailers and interviews. Jan-Bart Van Beek, studio director and art director at Guerrilla, appears in a translated developer commentary video expressing enthusiasm for the project. NCSOFT CEO and CCO Taekjin Kim, along with executive producer Sunggu Lee, also provide insight into the collaboration.

NCSOFT Highlights Broader G-Star 2025 Lineup

In addition to the Horizon collaboration, NCSOFT showcased four other titles during its G-Star presentation.

AION 2 — launching Nov. 19 in Korea and Taiwan — was introduced as a fully upgraded successor to the original AION, with a global release slated for 2026. Cinder City, developed by BigFire Games, is an open-world tactical shooter featuring a narrative-focused campaign.

Limit Zero Breakers, an anime-style action RPG from VIC Game Studio, and Time Takers, a time-survival shooter by Mistil Games, round out the publisher’s upcoming lineup.

All G-Star demo stations at NCSOFT’s booth are running on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 GPUs, following continued collaboration between the two companies. Attendees can play early demos of AION 2 and Cinder City on-site.
