Harrisburg University Announces Statewide Esports Tournament

Pennsylvania collegiate esports teams will compete for coveted PA Cup

HARRISBURG, PA (February 6, 2019) —
Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) announced their next major esports tournament: PA Cup.

During the weekend of March 30-31, 16 varsity and club collegiate PA teams will compete head to head in matches from their home campuses in League of Legends, Overwatch and Hearthstone for the title of PA Cup Champion. On day two of the tournament, there will be a live watch party at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts’ Select Medial Digital Cinema, the HU Storm’s home arena, where fans can gather to watch the finals and cheer on their team.

“Pennsylvania has a rich tradition in championship titles, including the World Series, the Super Bowl and multiple NCAA championships. The PA Cup puts this extremely popular, growing sport right into the mix,” added Chad Smeltz, Director of Esports at Harrisburg University. “There is an undeniable demand for college esports to offer tournaments that are on par with those of traditional sports and HU is all in on offering those experiences.”
