The film Super Mario Galaxy has recorded over $832 million (approx. KRW 1.23 trillion) in global revenue. Following its release in Japan on April 24, the film topped the Japanese box office, grossing ¥1.6 billion (approx. KRW 14.8 billion) in just three days.
According to box office data, Super Mario Galaxy has now reached $832 million (approx. KRW 1.23 trillion) in global theatrical revenue. Of this total, $386 million was generated in North America, with $446 million coming from international markets.
The film grossed $34.5 million on its opening day in North America on April 1, surpassing the opening-day revenue of its predecessor, Super Mario Bros. Currently, Super Mario Galaxy stands as the highest-grossing film and animated movie of 2026. However, despite its commercial success, the film has received polarized reviews from critics and audiences alike.
The previous installment, Super Mario Bros., ranked second at the global box office in 2023, grossing a staggering $1.36 billion (approx. KRW 2 trillion) and becoming the first video game adaptation to surpass $1 billion in revenue.
Meanwhile, Super Mario Galaxy is set to premiere in South Korea on April 29. The previous film, Super Mario Bros., drew 2.39 million viewers in Korea, generating KRW 23.5 billion in revenue. This latest installment is also expected to attract a large number of family audiences with its release just ahead of the May holidays.
