Skill Details and KR players’ comments: Absolute Skills for Wizard and Witch

※ Translator’s Note: The term “Absolute”  used in this post is a temporary translation and is subject to change when the associated update goes live in the NA/EU server. The Korean word is 진(pronounced as Jin), and can be translated to Truth, Absolute, or Nature. Other terms/names used in this post are also subject to change.

 

On Nov 23rd, the upgraded main skills, the “Absolute” skills, were added for the Wizard and Witch. The two classes have exactly the same pre-awakening skills, and thus have the same Absolute skills. The Witch and Wizard have a total of 16 Absolute skills, and you need the maximum rank of each main skill to learn the Absolute rank of that skill. The Absolute skills have higher damage and a higher number of hits than the regular skills do.


Neither the Wizard nor the Witch have an Absolute skill that is exclusive to one specific class. All the Absolute skills are offensive skills, and the heal/buff skills do not have an Absolute rank.


Below are KR players’ comments regarding the Absolute skills for the Wizard and Witch to give you a general idea on how the skills work. Details on the Absolute skills can be found below the comments. 

 

[Wizard]

▷ Wizard’s pre-awakening skills have a long casting time, so just adding more numbers won’t change anything dramatically. Also, I don’t like the fact that Protected Area and Healing Lighthouse did not get an Absolute rank.

▷ All other classes except for Ninja/Kunoichi (got 1 super armor skill) simply had higher damage, so it won’t be fair if Wizard/Witch has something more than that.

▷ You should use Black Spirit’s Rage with Absolute skills now. Absolute skills with Black Spirit’s Rage are more powerful than Awakening Black Spirit skills now.

▷ The damage of Absolute: Lightning with Black Spirit’s Rage is insanely high that at first I thought it was a bug.

▷ Meteor Shower and Blizzard are good, and Fireball Explosion, Lightning Storm, and Residual Lightning are okay. The other skills are not worth the skill points.

▷ Blizzard and Lightning Chain were okay in terms of damage. I’m not sure about Meteor Shower though…

▷ Meteor Shower is good in RvR. The skill can deal more damage than Aqua Jail Explosion does, and has a longer range. You can finish off low health enemies from a distance.

▷ I tried Absolute: Meteor Shower with 200% Black Spirit. You can’t fully hit the targets because your character will be pushed back. But still, the damage is massive. I like the skill.

▷ Long story short, there are no benefits of using pre-awakening skills in PvE. Awakening skills should be enough.

▷ Blizzard consumes a lot of MP, but the damage is pretty high. Meteor Shower is more recommended for PvP, as the skill has a shorter cooldown and can deal massive damage.

▷ Absolute: Lightning has the highest damage among the Absolute skills added today, so get that skill. Also, to everyone’s surprise, Absolute: Staff Attack is really powerful. Lastly, I don’t feel any difference in the regular Lightning Chain and the Absolute: Lightning Chain.

▷ It’s impossible to PvP with only Absolute skills. There’s no SA/FG, and all the powerful skills have a long cooldown. Also, there is the MP issue.


[Witch]

▷ Lightning Chain is slightly stronger as a CC skill in Node/Conquest Wars now. The damage is not that much higher. But when 4 Witches used Lightning Chain at once, a Tamer and a Ranger (they are both pretty well-equipped) died in an instant. It’s going to be a disaster when enemy Witches/Wizards use Lightning Chain at the same time in RvR.

▷ The duration and damage of Blizzard is greatly increased. Witches can use the skill behind Wooden Fences like they used to do.

▷ The cooldown for Meteor Shower decreased to ⅓ of the original cooldown. The damage is just so-so.

▷ Blizzard can definitely deal decent damage. It’s a good skill to use in high level grind spots like Navarn Steppe or Gyfin Rhasia Temple where you have to spam multiple skills. Casting time might be a bit long, but definitely one of Witch’s most powerful skills.

▷ Some of them are really powerful, but not better than Awakening skills. The Absolute skills are not that good in PvE. Why use Absolute skills when you have Detonative Flow?

▷ The Wizard and Witch’s pre-awakening skills are not that strong. Wizard and Witch became OP when Awakening skills came out, so the pre-awakening skills are not that efficient even when they are upgraded. Probably not going to use them since they are Wizard/Witch’s pre-awakening skills.

    If this is a conscious choice and it doesn't get buffed the instant the Wiz/Witch players complain, it's good that they didn't get yet another advantage. Seems like both Wizard and Witch need to move closer to the fight and use their Awks in order to do damage safely, whereas they can use the Absolute skills to do high AoE damage that however is not safe since they got no FG or SA.

    That's good.

    We usually don't get buffed when we complain, though. We get nerfed more often because of others complaints. At times I wonder if the nerfs are really for balance, or because of popular opinion. Wizard, at least, used to be a high risk high reward class. Now we're just high risk since the gutting of Bolide. I am happy for these changes as it seems it will bring back an era of horse mages that a lot of us were lacking. I look forward to that for sure. For wizard, 90% of our skills focus us into melee range in order to use. The usage of our skills is backwards in your description- Our absolute skills are longer range where as our awk skills are close range. This applies to wizard, less so to witch. This is a part of what made Wizard high risk high reward, as a single grab can demolish our entire deletion combo(aka button press). Most of our skills are AoE, the saftey in the Absolute skills will be that they can be used from substantial range, unlike awakened skills.


    That being said, I greatly welcome these changes, and hope the nerfs that will come aren't going to be too hard. I'm excited to bring my horse into battle for more than someone else mount killscore.
