NCSoft has launched a Steam page for its MMORPG 'Aion 2' and released an announcement trailer to mark the occasion.
Aion 2 is the sequel to 'AION: The Tower of Eternity,' an MMORPG originally released by NCSoft in 2008. The sequel was launched in South Korea and Taiwan on November 19 of last year and continues to be serviced successfully.
Early in its service, Aion 2 faced criticism for its lack of polish and poor monetization model. However, the development team quickly incorporated player feedback, implemented rapid improvements, and held frequent communication broadcasts, drawing positive reactions from players who noted that the company was 'different from the NC of the past.' Earlier this month, fans even sent a coffee truck to the company to show their support.
However, the Steam version of Aion 2 will not be officially available in South Korea. This version is aimed at the global market, excluding South Korea and Taiwan, with NCSoft planning to operate servers in four regions: North America, South America, Europe, and Japan. In South Korea, the store page will not open, and the game will not appear in search results without the use of a VPN.
The game will support a wide range of languages. In addition to Korean, Chinese, and English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Japanese have been added to the list of supported languages.
Meanwhile, NCSoft plans to host an event in May to introduce the game to global players and engage with the community. No specific release date has been announced beyond the target of a 2026 launch.
