Advanced Tier Team Composition
Attack, Magic, and Defense (All-Rounder) Decks are Standard
For the Normal tier, you simply need to select your two strongest teams. Serious competition in Total War begins at the Advanced tier, where Attack, Magic, and Defense (All-Rounder) decks are the standard. Since the addition of Radgrid, the Defense deck can essentially be considered an 'All-Rounder' deck, as it incorporates many versatile heroes.
The Attack deck now includes Teo, reborn through his remake, and the currently featured hero, Landgrid. If you lack Landgrid, you can use Ace, though Landgrid is highly cost-effective even at low transcendence, so I recommend using her. If you have a well-built Kyle but lack a developed Teo, use Kyle; if Pai is highly transcended, she can replace Kagura. If Yu is not at 6 stars, Rin is also an option. When using Landgrid, ensure you have a full team of five Attack-type heroes.
For the Magic deck, Freya and Reginleif are typically placed in the back row, with a combination of Sung Jinwoo, Melcure, and Milia being highly preferred. You can swap in Kiriel for Sung Jinwoo, or if you lack Reginleif, use Vanessa to secure a defense reduction effect. Since Reginleif is present, a team of five Magic-type heroes is recommended here as well; if you lack the Old Seven Knights hero Milia, use other available heroes like Yeonhee, Yushin, Juri, or Sylvesta.
The All-Rounder deck is a flexible composition that can be adjusted based on the player's roster. Sun Wukong, Phlanus, Elysia, Gelidus, and Radgrid form the most common setup. However, if you need to add an Effect Resistance Defense deck as your Total War tier rises, Phlanus may be removed from this team. Additionally, when using an Instant Death deck, Gelidus may be moved elsewhere. Candidates to fill these resulting vacancies include Trude and Spike.

Rare Tier Team Composition
Based on the Advanced Tier, with one additional team selection
Upon reaching the Rare tier, you must add another team, which requires some careful consideration. You can continue using the same Attack and Magic decks from the Advanced tier, but the All-Rounder deck may need adjustments. As mentioned, if you decide to use an Instant Death deck or an Effect Resistance Defense deck, you might need to remove Gelidus or Phlanus from the All-Rounder deck. Of course, for the Instant Death deck, many players also use Aquila as a substitute instead of Gelidus.
This Total War season, we are seeing a significant trend of 'splitting' Attack decks. Teo has received buffs, such as triggering 'Black Wing Full Moon Slash' via his passive, making him viable for competitive play, and the addition of Landgrid provides another solid component for Attack decks. When splitting Attack decks, you maintain your existing Attack deck while building a new one centered around Kyle.
Typically, a second Attack deck consists of Kyle, Pai, Colt, Ace, and Trude. Depending on your preference, some players choose Amelia instead of Trude. If your Pai is well-transcended and you have spare 'Power' accessories, splitting your Attack decks is a great strategy.

Legendary Tier Team Composition
A trend of choosing between adding an Instant Death deck, an Effect Resistance Defense deck, or an additional Attack deck
Once you reach the top-tier Legendary rank, you must utilize one additional team. Most players at this level now bring an Attack deck, a Magic deck, an All-Rounder deck, and an Instant Death deck. The choice for the final team then splits between an Effect Resistance Defense deck or a second Attack deck.
If you choose an Effect Resistance Defense deck as your fifth team, you can remove Phlanus from the All-Rounder deck and fill that spot with Spike or Trude. Note that in the Legendary tier, the composition can shift depending on where Gelidus is placed. As shown in the image below, if you use an Effect Resistance Defense deck and move Gelidus to the Instant Death deck, two spots open up in the All-Rounder deck, allowing you to include both Trude and Spike. This is actually a very popular combination. Also, some players include Xiao in their Effect Resistance Defense or Instant Death decks to gain immunity to Instant Death.
Changes can also occur when choosing to split Attack decks instead of using an Effect Resistance Defense deck. While the Attack deck positions remain the same, you can move Gelidus to the Instant Death deck and add Platin to the All-Rounder composition. With the combination of Sun Wukong, Phlanus, Elysia, Radgrid, and Platin, the Phlanus mark—which could not be utilized in the previous All-Rounder deck—is now activated. This combination has been appearing quite frequently in the Arena recently, so it is worth considering the best path based on your current hero development status.
