Kaiju No. 8 The Game has entered the third round of its Half Anniversary celebration, introducing Main Story Chapter 9 and a new ★5 version of Soshiro Hoshina.

According to a release from Akatsuki Games Inc., the update added Chapter 9, titled ‘CLOZER Suits’, alongside a limited-time login campaign, a mini event and a paid-only guaranteed ★5 gacha. The title is co-produced by Akatsuki Games, TOHO and Production I.G, and is available on mobile and PC.

Chapter 9 expands CLOZER suit storyline

The newly launched Chapter 9 continues the narrative following the battle in a frozen parallel world. According to the release, the story focuses on research into ‘CLOZER’ suits — equipment developed using data obtained from the parallel-world King of Kaiju.

Set in Dubai, the chapter follows new discoveries surrounding the powers of Kaiju No. 6 and introduces upgraded equipment designed to combat dimensional kaiju. As part of the update, players can access additional story missions tied to the new suit technology.

To mark the chapter’s release, the game is offering a login bonus campaign. Players who log in during the event period can obtain up to ten Pickup Gacha Tickets, alongside in-game items such as Dimensional Crystals and stamina resources.

New ★5 [New Possibilities] Soshiro Hoshina debuts

Round 3 also introduced ★5 [New Possibilities] Soshiro Hoshina as a playable character. The version of Hoshina is depicted as a test wearer for the standard CLOZER suit.

According to the release, the character’s haori jacket functions as a battery, absorbing and storing transition energy from a wide area. The update also added a new ★5 twin swords weapon, ‘SW-Ihcatiamak’, designed to complement Hoshina’s kit.

A character trailer for the update was published on the game’s official YouTube channel.

Alongside the new character, a limited-time mini special event titled ‘The Prized Shuriken Technique’ has gone live. The event features short story content and quests, with rewards including over 1,000 Dimensional Crystals and a new home screen background. The developer noted that the event runs for a shorter period than standard special events.

In addition, a type-specific paid-only ★5 Guaranteed Gacha has been introduced as part of the Half Anniversary campaign. During Round 3, players are guaranteed at least one ★5 ‘Slash’ character from a single-use pull.

Building on anime and manga momentum

The game is based on the Kaiju No. 8 franchise, created by manga artist Naoya Matsumoto and serialised on Shonen Jump+. The series has surpassed 19m copies in circulation, including digital editions, according to previously published figures.

The anime adaptation aired its first season from April to June 2024, with a second season broadcast between July and September 2025. Production of a final chapter and an additional original short animation has also been announced.

Akatsuki Games — known for operating titles such as Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle in partnership with Bandai Namco Entertainment — has continued to expand its portfolio with cross-platform releases featuring high-end 3D graphics and multi-device support.
