[WCG 2019] First TED Conference in China - 'Level Up'


July 19th, in Xi’an, China, a TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) conference was held. 
It gained more interest as it is the first TED conference held in China.

 

This TED conference was under the topic of ‘Level up’ based on technological innovations and developments about the expandability of the body. The topic was a digital entertainment content with the newest IT technology which also in common with ‘new horizon’.

 

Lecturers with expertise in diverse fields such as Catherine Mohr, surgeon and robot engineer, Kieth Kirkland, founder of Wearworks, Jason Shen, Headlight CEO, Amy Green, Numinous Games game designer, etc. gave moving talks.

 

The lecturers delivered a message that robots and wearable devices are changing the world, and that through self-improvement and games, the world can ‘level up’. Especially, their lecture was streamed live for the first time in TED history to the fans around the world.

 

Prior to the TED conference, at the same place, the WCG esports conference was held as well. Experts that are active in the global esports industry spoke about the trends of esports and how esports may change in the future. The participants broadened their insights on the esports industry through the lectures and had some time to network with each other afterward. 

 

The WCG 2019 in Xi’an, China started with the opening ceremony on the 18th. It will continue to the 21st with many events being held such as new horizon, TED, and WCG esports conference, etc.
