AF Ucal on Playing Against Kingzone: "We’re both aggressive teams, so I think it’ll be fun. I personally want to hunt down Deft."

On June 12th (KST), in the 2019 LCK Summer Split Day 6 Game 1, Afreeca Freecs demolished Hanwha Life Esports 2-0 and proved that their recent performance against Griffin and SK Telecom T1 wasn’t a fluke. In the match, all five members of the team worked around each other to secure today’s victory. After the match, mid laner Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon was interviewed by the media.

How do you feel about today’s win?

We started a winning streak. I’m really happy that it’ll cause positive effects on our team atmosphere.

What did you prioritize the most on preparing for today’s match?

Hanwha Life Esports seemed like a team that focuses on objectives so we concentrated on our individual mechanics and teamfights.

You’ve been especially talkative in the comms. Are you like that in everyday life or practice?

I don’t talk that much in scrims or practice. I think I get overly excited in official matches because playing onstage itself is so fun.

And that showed today especially when you played Yasuo. Is that why you were cut off once?

I wasn’t aware of where my teammates were and I think the opponents collapsed on me well.

It seems that your performance is a lot better this season.

Personally, I think I’m better now than when I was in kt Rolster. I’m satisfied with my current form, but since all mid laners are so good, I’ll be doing my best until the end. I gained confidence in myself as I’m not relying on others and making my own decisions more. And we have close trust with each other as a team.

Your next match is against Kingzone DragonX. Kingzone’s performance is on the rise as well as yours.

We’re both aggressive teams, so I think it’ll be fun. I personally want to hunt down Deft in that match. (Laughs) (Is there a reason?) He’s a really good player; since we were on the same team, I really want to take him down once.

After transitioning to NoFe interim head coach, did the team atmosphere change?

It became a bit freer. I like it better now.

Any last comments?

I’d like to repay the fans who were disappointed in our spring season by delivering only good performance.
