FLY Santorin: "I wouldn’t put too much stock into Akaadian being 0-2. TSM lost those games as a team."

FlyQuest took a surprising 0-2 in week 1 of the 2019 LCS Summer Split against Cloud9 and Golden Guardians. However, it looks like the team is returning to form with a defeat of TSM in week 2.

In besting TSM, FlyQuest is the first team in the LCS to defeat the infamous Sona/Taric Bot Lane duo. With Top Laner Omran "V1per" Shoura on his signature Riven and a Caitlyn/Lux answer duo for Jason "Wildturtle" Tran and Juan "JayJ" Guibert, FlyQuest looked poise to snowball the early game out of control before TSM could scale enough to take over the game.

FlyQuest failed to execute on its composition in the early game, but sloppy teamfighting from TSM gave openings for V1per to flex on his signature champion. While FlyQuest wasn't perfect throughout its sub-30 minute victory, the team certainly looked more on the same page than their winless first week in the Summer Split.

“Going 0-2 last week was really unexpected for us. I felt like we didn’t have a clear goal in practice or during games," Lucas "Santorin" Larsen told Inven Global's Nick Geracie after the win. The Danish Jungler handed TSM Jungler Matt "Akaadian" Higginbotham his second loss of the season. Jonathan "Grig" Armao, who has been splitting time with Akaadian, possesses the only win for TSM amongst the Jungle platoon.

“I wouldn’t put too much stock into Akaadian being 0-2. TSM lost those games as a team," said Santorin.   "Akaadian and Grig play very differently, and I’m not sure who they’re going to decide on eventually, if at all. As of now, they’re splitting time and while it’s likely we see Grig Sunday, I wouldn’t say the losses have been all Akaadian’s fault, or that his 0-2 is a big factor in Grig getting playtime.”

FlyQuest faces off against OpTic Gaming in week 2, day 2 of the LCS Summer Split at 4:00pm PST.
