Gen.G esports Hires Former MLB Senior Vice-President as CEO

On the 16th, global esports Corporation, Gen.G, hired Chris Park to be CEO of the company.

The co-founder of Gen.G (Kevin Chou) has been moved and appointed to the Executive Chairman position while hiring Chris Park as the new CEO. Chris Park has been a sports business leader for a long period of time. Chris has racked up a successful career by building and working with innovative brands. From 2015 to the present day, Chris Park was Senior Vice-President of the Major League Baseball (MLB) and was responsible for product/marketing.

Chris Park will work closely with Kevin Chou to oversee Gen.G's strategies and execution. Meanwhile, Kevin will lead Gen.G's board as chairman. Back when Chris was serving as the Senior Vice-President of MLB, he had noticed that esports was growing to a scale comparable to that of traditional sports leagues.

As the newly-appointed Gen.G CEO, Chris Park said “I am extremely grateful to start a brand new journey into the esports world alongside Gen.G. After years of working in the traditional sports league, I have come to realize how much of an impact esports has brought to the sports industry. We will ensure Gen.G will not only be a formidable team in esports but also ensure our brand to be recognized as the 'Gold Standard' for esports."

Kevin Chou, Gen.G's Chairman, added that he is “excited that Gen.G will now be working with Chris and [eager to see] how he will lead Gen.G to the next level. He is a very talented person who has the necessary skills for growth and innovation. I hope he can pour forth his talents as much as possible for the betterment of Gen.G. For 2019, Gen.G has set high goals and expectations. Chris is the right person to lead Gen.G's future.”

Chris Park will move from his former position, New York, to Gen.G's new HQ located in Los Angeles. From there, Chris will be carrying out his duties. Before all this, however, he is scheduled to spend some time in Gen.G's HQ in Seoul to gain a better understanding of his duties. In addition, due to the recent reshuffling of Gen.G's internal personnel, Kent Wakeford will be appointed to the Vice-Chairman position.
