LW Red: "We are glad that we finally won... No regrets."

LW Red won 2016 Overwatch IEM Gyeonggi Invitational, showing strong performance and winning 3-1 against Lunatic-Hai. LW Red, the once highly regarded team that could not make it to the first season of APEX Tournament, could finally wash away its painful memories from the past while at the same time giving high hopes to their fans that they would be able to see LW Red in the second season of APEX. We had a chance to hear what the players have felt after winning IEM's first Overwatch tournament.

How do you feel winning the tournament?

Pine: As a substitute I tried my best to cheer up everyone and give strategic advice. I don't know if that helped a lot, but I think I did what I could and I feel grateful that we won.

nanohana: I feel happy that we won an international tournament like this, and even happier that we came all the way from the bottom to where we are right now.

Gambler: I wanted to win, and I feel great that we won.

Saebyeolbe: I joined LW Red for IEM, and I feel great that we had solid teamwork.

Luna: I've always dreamed about winning, and I feel great that I won after changing my position.

MekO: I started this as a hobby, and I feel great that we won in an international tournament.

janus: LW Blue lost in APEX and I felt sad about it. Now that we won, I do not feel sad anymore.

How did you deal with triple tank meta?

Saebyeolbe: Triple tank meta is really popular nowadays. We practiced the same strategy a lot, and we went for dive comp with Zenyatta when that did not work out. I think that strategy was effective.

Who do you think is the MVP today?

Saebyeolbe: janus played really well today. He downed like 4~5 enemies with his Earthshatter and that connected really well.

Pine: As a third person who was watching the game, I think nanohana was on point today. He flanked around to strike enemy tanks from behind with supreme positioning, which helped the teammates a great deal. I think everyone did well today.

Saebyeolbe: Shotcalling is one thing I am week at, and Gambler filled the gap by calling shots instead of me. That worked out well.

It looks like you guys reached the momentum on Set 3. What is your strategy to win in King of the Hill maps like Lijiang Tower?

Saebyeolbe: We practiced a lot on maps. It is important to utilize Mei's Ice Wall to separate the enemies, and I think that worked out. We kept briefing in between games to look back at each other's roles in the game, which I think also was a good idea.

Any last words?

Pine: I feel bad that I was not able to play with my teammates, but I feel that all of us came together as a team to win. I have been going through a lot recently, and our victory today just wiped that out. I feel proud of my teammates.

nanohana: Now that we won IEM, we achieved our first goal. We will come back as a stronger team in the next season.

Gambler: I think our teammates at the bootcamp are the true contributors of the victory today. I feel thankful also to our coach who always takes great care of us. I feel great to see our team reach further in Overwatch.

Saebyeolbe: I am happy that we won. We will work further on our teamwork and come back stronger.

Luna: This is the first time I reached the finals, and we even won. I will look back at today in the future and try to improve. I really want to thank our teammates at the bootcamp.

MekO: Starting from our victory today, we will see both teams of LW make improvements in the next year.

janus: I am really thankful to our coaches. They always give us advice and mental support.
