China defeated Korea 3:1 in the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games LoL demonstration event finals and earned themselves the gold medal. Although they did give away a game, China dominated Korea in mid/late game teamfights throughout the series. Every player delivered concrete performance and among them all, the Chinese LoL superstar, Uzi once again shined bright. With Uzi dealing enormous damage against Korea, he led the team to become the very first medalists of the Asian Games LoL event. After the match, Uzi was interviewed by the Chinese press.
The following is the Chinese press interview with Uzi.
Q. How is it to win the Asian Games gold medal?
Uzi: I am very happy; it’s such a relief. To be frank, I suffered a lot of stress before the match. Finally, I fulfilled my goals.
Q. You won a lot of trophies this year and now you’ve earned the gold medal in the Asian Games. Do you feel any differences between the two?
Uzi: Winning the Asian Games isn’t the same compared to winning other matches. It carries such a big meaning for us since we participate in the Asian Games as a representative of our country. We do get the chance to win other tournaments at least twice a year, but this [winning the Asian Games] takes so much longer to win. That’s why it’s memorable.
Q. Today, Faker performed very well. How did you manage to win against him?
Uzi: In today’s match, everyone acted as a team; we didn’t play individually. Today we tried our best to position well before engaging for a teamfight. I personally don’t think that we did a lot as an individual. We were able to win the match because every one of us teamed up.
Q. China lost against Korea in the group stage twice. What did you improve on before going into the finals?
Uzi: In the group stage, we weren’t in our best shapes and our macro wasn’t good as well. Also, we lacked preparation for bo1s in the group stage. However, our performance for today was better than before since we learned from our previous defeats.
