[2018 LCK Summer Day 19] Griffin Stays at 1st, HLE Defeats KT

Griffin and Hanwha Life Esports defeated Afreeca Freecs and kt Rolster, who had played in the Rift Rivals.

On the 11th of July (KST), on day 19 of the 2018 LCK Summer Split, Griffin (GRF) defeated Afreeca Freecs (AFs) and maintained their spot at the top of the standings. Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) added a win over kt Rolster (KT) and switched places with them. Coincidentally, the two teams that played in the Rift Rivals lost.

The first match was between GRF and AFs. GRF dominated Game 1. By interfering the opponent jungle aggressively, GRF took first blood and took the lead. AFs tried to turn the table by having a teamfight at mid lane, but Choi “Sword” Sung-won’s Gnar denied that attempt. GRF closed the game with a Baron buff.

Game 2 was full of fierce fights. Lee “Kuro” Seo-haeng’s Zoe was very active throughout the game, but Park “Viper” Do-hyeon’s Vladimir was too much for AFs. GRF marched to the AFs Nexus after getting both Baron and Elder buffs.

There were brawls all around from the start in Game 1 of KT and HLE. However, HLE support Kim “Key” Han-gi’s Nami recorded four kills in the early game and led the game towards HLE. KT tried to come back with a Baron steal by Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon, but the game was already too much tilted towards HLE. HLE took over the Rift and ended the game.

HLE gave up the initiative to KT in the early game. However, as Heo “Lindarang” Man-heung’s Dr. Mundo killed Ucal in the bottom lane, they slowly turned the game around. HLE wasn’t shaken by KT’s side lane macro and calmly took Baron and Elder. They won the last teamfight near Baron and finished the game.
