G-Star 2016 concludes successfully

The Korea Internet Digital Entertainment Association (K-IDEA) reported G-Star 2016 has concluded as the largest G-Star yet. G-Star is an international game exhibition with 653 participant companies from 35 countries around the world.

Marking its 12th anniversary, this year’s G-Star fully filled BEXCO's first and second exhibition halls, convention hall, auditorium, multipurpose hall, and outdoor plaza; the overall event spanned an area of 55,300 square meters.

In line with the event’s slogan, "Play to the next step", this year's event showcased various possibilities of the gaming industry. G-Star's Organizing Committee and Sony Interactive Entertainment Korea (SIEK) jointly organized the G-Star VR Special Exhibition to feature various VR content; Twitch, an online streaming platform, participated as a global media partner to reveal new games and host eSports tournaments for titles such as StarCraft 2.

Mobile admission tickets were fully implemented this year and enabled a smooth experience for over 10,000 users. The total number of visitors, online visitors included, saw an overall increase of 4.6%—209,617 from last year to 219,267 this year.

Gwan Ho Choi, Chairperson of the G-Star Organizing Committee, said G-Star was able to achieve positive results this year only because of its game-loving attendees and continously supportive companies, mentioning plans to further develop their B2B pavilion next year.
