SSG Ruler: "I knew I was going to be the series MVP"

Out of the 5 starting players on SSG, Ruler has arguably been the lesser known. But he was a player that always showed up when it truly mattered. The position that he plays for, ADC, is the most important role in the current meta, a role that Ruler played fittingly for his team. However, he wasn't always rated so highly.

Although Ruler and CoreJJ were far from "bad" players, they were always overshadowed by players from other top teams. But at Worlds 2017, they changed that.

From their journey to the Finals, Ruler fell PraY in the quarterfinals, Mystic in semis, and Bang on the final stage. The bot-duo decorated their trophy with two MVP titles, one from CoreJJ during the semifinals, and the other from Ruler during the Finals.

The series MVP, Ruler, was invited for an interview with Sjokz after the match.

How does it feel to be the world champion?

I didn't even think of the possibility of winning 3-0. But I knew that I was going to be the series MVP.

If you look back at the "journey" that you guys had gone through, how do you reflect on how you guys as a team have adapted and "evolved" throughout the tournament?

First of all, our team started putting a lot of effort into our practice after our return from Worlds last year. But our practice didn't work out too well... We lost almost all of our scrims and our Spring Split results were bad as a result. Our Summer results were also far from great. Then, at the regional qualifiers, we told each other, "Let's win this time..." and we made it to Worlds.

I'm very happy that we won.

What does this mean for the future of your team?

I can only hope for a brighter future for our team. This is our 2nd consecutive year at Worlds, but I'll make sure to come next year and the year after that as well.

Final Words for the fans?

I'm pretty sure that most of you guys hadn't expected us to win like this.

I want to thank Riot and Kespa for always supporting us. I also want to greatly thank the coaching staff for everything that they have done for me and my team. Finally, I want to tell my parents that I love them and thank them for always cheering for me.
