Grinding Gear Games has unveiled Path of Exile: Covens of Umbra and Path of Exile 2: Conquerors of Wraeclast at ExileCon 2026 in Auckland, setting a November 13th 2026 (PST) launch for the Path of Exile expansion and a December 11th 2026 (PST) full release for Path of Exile 2.
According to a release, both drops are free-to-play. Path of Exile 2 lands on PC, Mac, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation and Xbox. Covens of Umbra arrives on PC, Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Epic Games. Announcement pages are up on pathofexile.com/covens and pathofexile2.com.
Action role-playing games (ARPGs) in this vein send players through randomly generated maps, loot and class builds. Path of Exile and its sequel are free-to-play titles from the West Auckland studio, with large passive skill trees and seasonal challenge leagues.
Path of Exile 2 full release and Conquerors of Wraeclast
Path of Exile 2's full release brings Acts 5 and 6, which the studio says add 24 new areas, 18 new unique bosses and over 20 new special encounters as the fight against the Twilight Order and the Beast reaches its end. The release frames the launch package as ten playable classes, 26 Ascendancy classes, over 320 skills, more than 400 Unique Items and over 150 endgame maps.
A new Shadow class joins the roster, along with the Knight Ascendancy for the Duelist. The studio also lists over 40 new Unique Items, 70-plus revamped Uniques, extensive skill and Ascendancy changes, and a reworked passive skill tree.
The Conquerors of Wraeclast league asks players to wage war against enemy player factions, recruit armies, build fortresses and command soldiers in sieges to take strongholds, the release says. That full-release date lines up with earlier reporting that Path of Exile 2 would leave early access in mid-December (December 12th KST / December 11th PST).
Covens of Umbra, Wickerman and Atlas changes
Covens of Umbra puts players against ancient witches and a new Wickerman system built from the corpses of slain bosses. The release also flags a redesigned Atlas Passive Tree, revamped league mechanics, and Threads of Creation in place of Scarabs, which can guarantee up to three primary league mechanics inside Maps.
Official pages describe boss Fates that raise difficulty and rewards, Viscera trophies for the Wickerman, and broader endgame loot changes — including tiered unidentified Magic and Rare drops. Those details sit on the Covens announcement page; an official trailer is on the Path of Exile YouTube channel (@playpathofexile).
ExileCon 2026 runs in New Zealand this weekend. Kakao Games is also streaming key presentations in Korean. Grinding Gear Games was founded in 2006 in West Auckland; it put Path of Exile 2 into Early Access in 2024 while continuing expansions for the original game.
