On November 6, Kuro Games hosted a preview broadcast ahead of the Version 3.8 update for its open-world action RPG Wuthering Waves. Featuring key developers, the livestream showcased new areas, a new Resonator, and preparations for the major Version 4.0 update.
The Dream Train Appears Before Heading to the New Federation, Plus New Resonator 'Lily'
Having resolved the series of events in the realm of Monju in Version 3.7, the Rover learns from a stranger who arrived from the New Federation about getting caught on an ancient battlefield. Finding the entrance to the realm of the mind through the Black Shores, the Rover begins a full investigation, uncovering stories entwined with the New Federation.
The primary area of this version, the Soul Train, is a mysterious train running while carrying the souls sacrificed in the past Resonator War. Cozy passenger cars co-exist with bizarre anomalies, and the lingering spirits of the Resonator War's victims aboard will unfold their past stories.

The key figure, 'Lily', is a Resonator and perfumer who retains all her memories of life. After becoming a combat medic during the Resonator War, Lily boarded the Soul Train following the annihilation of her unit and awakened her Dream Resonance Ability, remaining on the train to comfort spirits unable to find rest. As a Spectro Pistols Resonator, Lily alternates between the 'Sweet Dream' state and 'Nightmare' state when using her Resonance Skill.
In the 'Sweet Dream' state, each attack accumulates the 'Dreamy Fragrance' buff. Activating the skill when the buff is full allows her to ride a cloud into the air, dealing continuous AoE damage to enemies while steadily restoring her own HP. In the 'Nightmare' state, when the 'Dreamy Fragrance' buff reaches maximum stack, she fires a sphere that pulls in enemies while restoring party members' HP. Upon activating her Resonance Liberation, Lily falls asleep to release the power of dreams, continuously pulling in enemies and healing allies. Switching to another party member at this time leaves behind a dream bubble that pulls enemies and continues joint attacks with the team.

Following the Version 3.8 update, Phase 1 will feature Lily alongside her signature 5-star Pistol, 'Lullaby', on the featured Convene banners. Phase 1 will also host reruns for Sigrika and Qiuyuan, while Phase 2 will run rerun banners for Yangyang: Xuanling, Suisui, and Hiyuki. Additionally, during Version 3.8, the 'Echoes of the Journey 2' Convene will allow players to select one of four Resonators to pull for: Camellya, Rococo, Phrolova, or Brent.

Training Simulation Event and Year-End Surprise Event in Development
Version 3.8 also introduces the training simulation mini-event 'Second Solaris: Nameless Dream'. Presented as a training sim depicting the daily life of the Rover entering 'Second Solaris Academy' as a third-year student, players can spend unique daily school life with Resonators met throughout their journey. Participating in the event awards Astrites, exclusive profile pictures, and badges, and even if missed during the event period, it will remain playable as regular permanent content afterward.
Additionally, Version 3.8 features 'Lahai Roi Puzzle: Reversal', where players clear blocks Tetris-style; 'Mumu Logistics: Maintenance', where players spin a roulette wheel using coins earned from tasks; and 'Dream Field: Seeking Curiosities', a continuous stage challenge using specified Resonators. In Tactical Hologram - Challenge, the Automaton Effigy Calamity is newly added.
Hiyuki receives a new outfit titled 'Moon Sunk Frost'. Worn during a film shoot, the costume features an evening dress theme with black-and-white contrast. Alongside this special outfit, Hiyuki's accessory 'Blazing Cherry Blossom' will also be available for purchase.
Next, quality-of-life improvements for Version 3.8 were detailed. First, the Echo preset switching feature is upgraded so that changing Rover's attribute automatically switches to the Echo set assigned to that attribute. The Resonator Training Plan system has also been overhauled, adding an 'Overview' tab to check comprehensive growth info and a team recommendation module. In the Solaris Guidebook, when navigating from material acquisition pages or Resonator training suggestions to dungeons available for immediate challenge, players are now directed straight to the pinned location. Additionally, a continuous challenge option has been added to the dungeon reward screen to improve farming efficiency.

Following Version 3.7, Version 3.8 further enhances the storage cleanup feature for more efficient storage management. In-game animations, including hit reactions, have been polished to heighten combat immersion and control responsiveness. For console platforms, a graphics quality preset option has been added, and PS5 Pro now supports PSSR to upscale resolutions up to 4K.
Finally, a special year-end offline event was teased. Prepared as an event to look back on memories from the past year, detailed information will be revealed later through official community channels.
Wuthering Waves Version 3.8, 'Distant Dreams, Softly Fading Lilies', will launch on Thursday, November 12.
