IRONMACE Co., Ltd. will launch Early Access Season 11 for Dark and Darker on October 9 (KST). The update focuses on reviving the tension and core gameplay experience of the early release through a comprehensive dungeon overhaul and new content.
According to materials provided by IRONMACE, Dark and Darker has achieved a peak concurrent user count of 100,000 on Steam and ranked 2nd on Steam's all-time wishlists (2.24 million) since its Early Access release in 2023. It also recorded a peak concurrent viewer count of 250,000 on Twitch.
This overhaul adds a new NPC, the 'Goblin Smuggler,' that players can interact with while exploring dungeons. A new theme, 'Curse,' is also introduced, enhancing the curse on the 'Ruins of the Forgotten Castle' to make the map atmosphere even darker. In line with the theme, weapons, items, and interactable objects will be added, each granted unique visual and in-game effects.
In the newly introduced 'Custom Play,' players can directly set modes, party sizes, maps, and detailed game rules to enjoy with other users. It also supports observer and spectating features, configured to expand into various play environments such as tournaments.
Along with overall class balance adjustments, the capabilities of the 'Warlock' and 'Bard' will also expand. New Skills and Perks are being added to both classes, while new Spells for the Warlock and Music performances for the Bard are being introduced. By strengthening the class characteristics that utilize magic and music performances, players can experiment with various builds and combat styles.
A 'Twitch Drops' event will run for approximately three weeks, from the season launch on the 9th to the 30th. Players can earn rewards by linking their Twitch account in the in-game options menu and watching Dark and Darker streams.
An IRONMACE official stated, "Through this update, we aimed to provide an opportunity for existing players, returning players, and newcomers alike to enjoy Dark and Darker together," adding, "We will continue working to enable players to enjoy the game in various ways in the future."
