It has been confirmed that KRAFTON has filed a trademark application related to its game based on 'The Bird That Drinks Tears'.
On the 18th, it was confirmed that a trademark for 'Windless: The First King' was registered under KRAFTON's name on KIPRIS, the intellectual property information search service. Windless is an open-world action RPG currently in development at KRAFTON Montréal Studio, based on author Lee Yeong-do's epic fantasy novel 'The Bird That Drinks Tears'. This marks the first time that the apparent subtitle, 'The First King,' has been revealed.
The subtitle 'The First King' is interpreted as referring to the 'Hero King,' a key figure in the original novel and the first monarch of the Arajit Kingdom. The Hero King belongs to the 'Rekon,' a bird-like giant race of massive stature and superhuman strength, and is regarded as a legendary figure even among his kind. He is particularly famous for his heroic exploits on the battlefield wielding two swords known as 'Sunflower' and 'Moonflower'.
Meanwhile, Project Windless, which is raising expectations with this trademark filing, is currently in development targeting a release in 2027 or later. KRAFTON previously made its development concrete in February by releasing a trailer video on the official Project Windless YouTube channel that focused on the combat action of the Hero King.
