A TGS 2026 gameplay trailer for 'KEMURI', an Eastern fantasy co-op game under development by Japan's UNSEEN studio, was released today (16th).
In this 90-second video set against the backdrop of Kemuri City—a metropolis filled with soaring skyscrapers—players get a glimpse of Yokai Hunters hunting supernatural yokai. Players become custom Yokai Hunters, searching for and defeating yokai hidden throughout the city, or forming contracts with them to gain assistance in hunting even more powerful yokai.
One of the core elements used to locate yokai is the 'Fox Window'. It is a ritual trick where players make a small opening using their hands and peer through it at people, allowing them to see through the true identity of yokai disguised as humans. Using this, players can uncover yokai hiding all across the city.
Once located and defeated, players can form contracts with these yokai to harness their powers. Through 'Possession Apparel', not only do the yokai's powers and abilities transfer, but the character's appearance partially changes as well, altering movement and combat styles. In the trailer, players can witness transformations such as becoming a Tengu to whip up gusts of wind or spout flames and water. Furthermore, with various entities appearing—ranging from what appears to be a Nekomata to a Jiangshi and a Nine-Tailed Fox—players can expect to see a wide variety of gameplay combinations.
Featuring an original world, dynamic action, and distinct visuals, 'KEMURI' is scheduled for release in 2027. UNSEEN plans to host a small private event related to the game at its studio during TGS. However, whether the studio will officially participate in TGS 2026 remains undecided.
