2K announced on September 7 that 'NBA 2K27', the latest installment in its basketball simulation series, has officially launched.
'NBA 2K27' features Victor Wembanyama as its cover athlete. The game revamps content across the board, from on-court gameplay to the open-world area 'The City' and franchise management modes.
Core gameplay has been redesigned on both offense and defense based on ProPLAY technology. Offense gains high-freedom dribbling and new drive techniques, while defense sees improvements to shot contests, collision detection, and AI.
In a franchise first, the unified co-ed 'The City' lets players create female MyPLAYERs and compete within the same attribute framework as male characters. Reflecting community feedback, key court spaces including The REC and The Theater have been renovated. 'Crew HQ', a dedicated base for crews, and 'Casual Corner', a beginner hub, have also been introduced.
MyCAREER introduces 'MyCAREER Eras' set across five eras, the cinematic narrative 'Fire & Concrete', and the franchise's first co-op play feature. In the MyPLAYER Builder, players can develop their athletes using Badge Tokens and the Synergy system.
MyNBA improves CBA contract negotiations and the 'GM Trust' system, while introducing 'MyNBA Legacy', an RPG-style mode set against a 100-year universe. The W and MyWNBA modes, which allow players to run WNBA franchises, have also been overhauled.
MyTEAM adds 'Player XP' for developing cards through gameplay and an expanded 'Exchange' feature. A unified Auction House shared by players across console, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 has also been established.
Through the mobile companion app 'NBA 2K HQ', players can create builds and interact with other users. The Nintendo Switch 2 version features a 60 FPS performance mode and dedicated motion minigames, while the PC version incorporates NVIDIA DLSS 5.
Visual Concepts President Greg Thomas said, "This year's release packs content and features designed to satisfy every type of player, built on balanced gameplay." He added, "Every element of NBA 2K27—from the new MyCAREER Eras mode and the franchise's first co-ed City to the 100-year MyNBA Legacy and MyTEAM's Player XP—is engineered to give players more ways to compete."
'NBA 2K27' was developed by Visual Concepts and is rated for ages 12 and up. It is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam).
