Sony's online showcase State of Play revealed a variety of new titles through a two-hour double feature.

The event aired back-to-back presentations: "State of Play," packed with updates and new announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners, followed by "State of Play Japan," which offered an in-depth look at upcoming titles from Japanese and Asian game studios.

Highlights included the reveal of Crimson Desert's expansion Charting the Unknown and Lego PlayStation, alongside release date announcements for several titles.

■ Resident Evil: Night 0 | Release: September 17, 2026 | ▶Trailer

The show kicked off with a new trailer for the movie Resident Evil: Night 0. Directed by Zach Cregger, who made a strong impression with horror films like Weapons and Barbarian, the new project generated significant hype.

The footage offered a fresh perspective on the aftermath of the zombie outbreak through the eyes of Brian, a pharmaceutical delivery driver played by Austin Abrams. This film is a completely new story, unrelated to the six-film Resident Evil series starring Milla Jovovich that began in 2002.

Director Cregger previously stated that he focused on bringing the survival horror essence of Capcom's original game to the big screen. Cregger himself appeared in the video to open the State of Play presentation.

Echoes of Sekigahara is a story expansion that weaves between protagonist Atsu's past and present. Through flashbacks to the Battle of Sekigahara, it covers key events prior to Atsu swearing revenge and returning to her homeland.

Most Wanted is a single-player survival mode featuring roguelike mechanics. Players accept bounties to begin runs, growing stronger by defeating enemies and acquiring perks. Beyond Atsu, players can choose characters with distinct weapons, such as Oyuki, who wields a kusarigama, and new character Nagato, who uses a yari. Additionally, Jin Sakai, protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima, appears as a playable character.

The expansion's narrative begins as the massive Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung appears and causes destruction in the Forbidden Lands. To prepare against further attacks, the expedition establishes a new stronghold, Madoi Fort, while introducing a new region, the Cloud Sea Ruins.

In combat, a new piece of gear triggered via Slinger called the Boost Bracer has been added, granting new actions and combos across weapons. Detailed moves for each weapon type will be revealed sequentially.

State of Play featured the console debut gameplay footage for Metro 2039, along with its official release date of February 4, 2027. The presentation highlighted that the showcased gameplay was captured at 60fps on PS5 Pro.

The trailer opens with new protagonist Stranger emerging from underground tunnels to the thawed surface ruins of Moscow. Stranger is a former Spartan Ranger with a dark past who harbors no desire to return to the Metro he left behind.

The gameplay footage depicts a trek toward Novoreikh Fortress near a dam, where every step above ground poses deadly threats. Radiation exposure and hazards lurking in collapsed apartment complexes heighten the tension.

4A Games confirmed that the game is built on its proprietary 4A Engine, supporting ray tracing on both PS5 and PS5 Pro alongside a dedicated Performance Mode running at 60fps.

A sequel to 2020's Maneater. The video opens at Neptune's Kingdom, an ultra-luxurious private island theme park. Set loose during a preview event at the mega-resort, the player-controlled shark embarks on a sandbox journey of eating, exploring, and evolving.

Crimson Desert's first major expansion, Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown, headlines new underwater exploration and stronghold construction mechanics.

The trailer shows protagonist Kliff sailing out to sea, unveiling underwater exploration absent from the base game. Scenes of holding onto a massive shark's back while swimming beneath the waves caught attention, alongside base and castle construction systems where players decorate domains and erect structures.

The story takes place after the events of the main game. Charting the Unknown follows Kliff, Ounka, and Damián across Pywel as each pursues their own goals. Following cutscene and voiceover enhancements shown earlier at Gamescom for "Crimson Desert Enhanced," the expansion adds maritime exploration and base-building pillars to a game previously centered on land combat.

This DLC will be released on October 15.

Lego PlayStation, which had previously been partially leaked through rumors, was officially announced at State of Play. The Lego set recreates the original PlayStation console and controller at nearly a 1:1 scale.

Composed of 1,911 pieces, the finished model measures approximately 26cm in width. Features include working power and open buttons on the console, as well as a controller that plugs into the system.

The set also contains mini dioramas themed after Ape Escape and Gran Turismo. Both dioramas can be detached from the console unit for separate display.

Square Enix released a new trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance, the first HD-2D entry in the Final Fantasy series. Launching October 22, a free demo was distributed alongside the video. The demo includes the entire first chapter, and save data can be carried over to the full release.

Sephiroth's appearance in the trailer drew particular attention. Players embark on a journey to protect crystals scattered across the world and stop forces seeking to destroy it. Battles against legacy characters from the series, including Sephiroth, were confirmed in the trailer.

The game inherits classic franchise elements such as turn-based command battles, Chocobos, and airships, while introducing a new job system called Visions.

In the subsequent State of Play Japan, producer Yuya Tomiyama appeared in person to discuss Gundam Rogue Orbit, detailing the title's fast-paced combat and deep customization elements.

In-game Mobile Suit movements and combat styles vary depending on individual part configurations. The broadcast also confirmed that players can customize paint colors freely or apply MOD skins to recreate the iconic RX-78-2 Gundam.

Hunter's Moon is a first-person narrative folk horror game set in historic England, launching exclusively on PS5 on October 26. Developed by new studio Twin Swans, players control a woman accused of witchcraft, fleeing through villages, forests, and moorlands.

Hunted by a witch-hunter captain, town magistrate, and trackers, players must rely on stealth and deception rather than direct confrontation. Encounters with mummers in folk costumes and eavesdropping on villagers through windows yield vital clues and assistance needed to survive.

At its core is an eavesdropping mechanism inspired by immersive theater, designed to help reconstruct the town's broader story through the tales of war-weary and unfortunate townsfolk.

Uncannian is developed by Graceful Decay and published by Annapurna Interactive. The game follows Sonia, a stranger stranded in an unfamiliar land, exploring the ruined world of Uncannian formed by overlapping parallel universes.

Initially entering out of curiosity, Sonia gradually comes to realize why this world needs her, bearing the responsibility to save it. Spatial shifts between parallel worlds serve as a core puzzle mechanic, clearing obstacles or opening new pathways.

Konami debuted two trailers for its all-new RPG: a story trailer giving a glimpse into character narratives, and a second trailer displaying action battle gameplay where player decisions turn the tide of combat.

The video opens on a peaceful world where people live according to lifelong callings bestowed by a massive floating astrolabe. However, a catastrophic "Rain of Light" that kills upon contact threatens the realm once more, leading protagonist Ash and Fine, daughter of the Goddess Church leader, on a quest to stop the calamity.

Combat showcases standard attacks, Arts attacks, and perfect-evade counters, alongside support actions called Saint Commands and a system that combines Lumina Core powers passed down from companions met along the journey.

Rhapsody in Scarlet, another new title from Konami, was showcased across both State of Play and State of Play Japan.

Set in 1920s jazz-era New York, the game highlights combo action using magic and beasts. Beneath the glamorous city lights, covert conflict among magic wielders forms the narrative core as players control Ellie, a young Magus swept up in her destiny.

The trailer demonstrates Ellie fighting alongside her beast companion Skoll, seamlessly weaving melee/ranged attacks, area-of-effect spells, and beast skills.

An additional story trailer depicts Ellie arriving in New York aspiring to be a jazz singer, only to get entangled in a mafia plot. Upon meeting Ilya, leader of the Seekers syndicate, clash of values evolves into a shared fight against a fate threatening world balance.

Housemarque's Saros, released in April, will expand its content through a new free update titled Zenith.

The new "Overlord Rush" mode challenges players to fight powerful Overlord bosses back-to-back while competing on global leaderboards, continuing Housemarque's signature arcade-style challenge content.

Also added is "Eclipse Layer," a New Game Plus-style mode that resets progress upon completion for a heightened difficulty challenge, alongside new progression options.

■ Gran Turismo 7 - Spec IV | Split Release in October and December 2026 | ▶Trailer

A major free update for Gran Turismo 7, Spec IV, was unveiled at State of Play. Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi introduced the update as preparation for the series' 30th anniversary in 2027, explaining that due to the volume of content, it will be split across two releases in October and December.

In October, Japan's Sportsland SUGO joins as a new circuit, featuring its signature winding turns and Dunlop Bridge. A total of 12 new vehicles will be added across both updates, with specific models to be revealed later.

According to official details, new intern Izzy makes an unexpected discovery that throws the team's plans into disarray. Yuna, a survivor met at Sydney HorrorCon, reveals a necrotic scar on her neck as a warning, prompting the crew to head to a remote South Pacific island abandoned after a 1970s resort shutdown.

The trailer reaffirmed the series' signature branching choices, showing Owen deciding whether to pursue missing crewmate Nate or detour to investigate a bar.

Two GTA6-themed DualSense wireless controllers were revealed alongside the game's upcoming launch. Available in Black and White limited editions, they launch on November 19 alongside the full game at $84.99.
