The Esports Foundation (EF) is postponing the 'Esports Nations Cup' (ENC), originally scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in November 2026, to November 2027.

In an announcement on its official website on the 18th, the EF stated that the decision to postpone the tournament followed a continuous assessment of the overall geopolitical situation in the Middle East and extensive discussions with key stakeholders. As a major international event involving national and regional teams from over 100 countries, as well as numerous partners and fans, the foundation determined that ensuring a stable and secure environment was the responsible choice. While there are no concerns regarding Saudi Arabia's capacity to host major sports and entertainment events, the schedule was adjusted to uphold the original intent of providing a world-class competitive stage.
Regardless of this postponement, support programs and ecosystem development will proceed without disruption. The disbursement of the 'ENC Development Fund' for existing national team partners will remain on schedule. Cooperation with game publishers and key partners will also continue, with restructuring efforts to be rolled out sequentially to align with the new dates.
EF CEO Ralf Reichert noted that the decision to postpone was "by no means an easy one." Reichert emphasized that to live up to the overwhelming interest shown by partners, players, and fans worldwide, the tournament must be held under optimal conditions. He also made it clear that the postponement to 2027 does not signal a pause in investment for national teams or efforts to foster esports ecosystems in each country.
The ENC is a massive international tournament designed to provide new opportunities for esports athletes and expand fandoms through national pride and global competition. Over 100 countries and regions across all continents have already signed official partnerships. The EF plans to work closely with stakeholders over the coming weeks to finalize and announce details, including the revised tournament schedule and eligibility requirements.
