Gen.G defeated T1 2-0 in their Legend Group matchup during the 4th round of the 2026 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) regular season, held at the KSPO Dome in Seoul's Olympic Park on the 16th. By handing T1 a clean sweep on their home turf, Gen.G avenged their own crushing defeat from two weeks ago and successfully defended their first-place standing.
The word 'revenge' came up immediately when discussing the victory. 'Duro' Ju Min-gyu mentioned the previous homestand loss, expressing satisfaction with the clean win, while 'Kiin' Kim Gi-in also reflected on their poor performance at the time and expressed his satisfaction with this 2-0 victory. 'Canyon' Kim Geon-bu highlighted both their performance and their ranking, while 'Chovy' Jung Ji-hun and 'Ruler' Park Jae-hyuk emphasized the importance of overcoming difficult phases in the game.
When asked about the secret to their winning streak, Head Coach Yoo Sang-wook pointed to communication. He explained that after their losing streak, the team increased the time spent sharing ideas on both pick-ban strategies and in-game situations, and worked to read the opponent's next moves together during matches. Yoo noted that as these efforts aligned, "I believe that is how we were able to maintain our first-place standing."
Regarding the multiple crises faced in Game 1, Yoo offered a positive assessment. "I felt there wasn't really anything to give feedback on today," he said, viewing the process of reading the opponent's intentions and overcoming disadvantageous situations as a success. His intent was to offer praise rather than criticism.
Regarding the early-game jungle pathing disruption in Game 2, 'Canyon' stated that he judged the loss to be acceptable. He explained that because he was caught far from the bottom lane, it relieved pressure on that side, and that it is relatively easy for a jungler to recover even after a death.
In response to the observation that mid-lane champions have less influence than before, 'Chovy' answered based on growth phases. He noted that while growth is not as strong as it used to be, he can keep pace until the three-core item timing, and if he navigates that phase well, the gap does not widen significantly afterward.
The two players had different takes on the non-ADC meta. 'Duro' said he expects it to become more fun starting from the next Patch, though he noted that the frequency of non-ADC picks has decreased recently, making it manageable. 'Ruler' recalled his past struggles adapting to a similar meta and revealed that this time, he practiced a lot on his own to be helpful to the team. He added that he has positive memories of pulling out non-ADC picks when the team needed them and achieving good results.
Finally, Head Coach Yoo expressed his gratitude to the fans and promised to perform well in the remaining matches.
