The most expansive DLC in the 10-year history of the Total War: WARHAMMER series has confirmed its September release date and is now available for pre-order.
SEGA Publishing Korea (CEO Saito Go) announced that the new DLC for Total War: WARHAMMER III, developed by The Creative Assembly Limited, will be released on September 24. Set against the apocalyptic backdrop of the End Times, this DLC introduces four new Legendary Lords to the 'Immortal Empires' campaign, along with numerous new units, lore-accurate elements, and a game-changing free update. The Mac and Windows versions are available for pre-order on Steam, Epic, and the Microsoft Store, and a new trailer featuring voice-over narration has been released.
The four new Legendary Lords each offer a distinct strategic gameplay experience: 'Nagash,' the Undead overlord seeking to ascend to godhood by absorbing the world's life force; 'Boris Todbringer,' the Elector Count of Middenland striving to protect the Empire and rekindle the 'Flame of Ulric'; the 'Glottkin,' who spread 'Nurgle's Gardens' across the land; and 'Thanquol,' who weaves intricate plots with cunning schemes.
A wide array of new unit types led by these Lords will also be added. Joining the battlefield are the 'Khemric Titan,' a massive construct brought to life by magic; the 'Blightlord,' a demonic manifestation of the Horned Rat; the 'Putrid Blightkings,' an elite combat unit rotting from demonic fly infections; and the 'Celestial Hurricanum,' a war altar imbued with the eight winds of magic.
Efforts to lower the barrier to entry for new players are also notable. For the first time in the series, purchasing the 'Thrones of Decay' content—either as a bundle or individually—allows players to enjoy the massive 'Immortal Empires' campaign without needing to own other games in the Total War: WARHAMMER series.
The free update is also the largest in the series to date. The Vampire Queen 'Neferata' will be added as a new free Legendary Lord, and the 'Vampire Counts' and 'Archaon the Everchosen' factions will undergo major reworks. Additionally, the update includes revamped endgame crisis scenarios such as 'Chaos Invasion,' 'Tide of Blight,' and 'The Return of Nagash,' along with updated victory conditions for all existing Legendary Lords.
The 'Thrones of Decay' bundle includes 4 Legendary Lords, 8 Legendary Heroes, 5 types of Lords and Heroes, 23 combat units, and 12 Regiments of Renown, along with new gameplay mechanics, features, and objectives. Each Legendary Lord and their associated content can also be purchased individually. Information regarding this title and other Total War series projects currently in development can be found on the official website, Facebook, and official YouTube channel.
