As applications are currently open for the "GXG 2026 Game Music Competition: The 3rd GXG SOUND TRACK" (hereafter referred to as GXG SOUND TRACK), which expresses the emotions and inspiration received from games through music, last year's Grand Prize winner, Space Trouble Club, shared the experience they gained through GXG and delivered a message of encouragement to this year's participants.
Last year, Space Trouble Club claimed the Grand Prize with their original song "Hollow's Puppet," inspired by NEOWIZ's Lies of P. By translating the game's narrative and emotions into their own distinct music, they left a deep impression on both the audience and the judges on stage, and they have continued their steady creative work even after winning.
Space Trouble Club said, "Game music isn't just about crafting a melody; it is the work of delivering a game's story and experience through music," adding, "GXG SOUND TRACK was a special opportunity for participants who love games to showcase their work on stage."
They continued, "Expressing the games and music you love to your heart's content is far more important than the results," offering their words of encouragement: "We hope this year's participants enjoy themselves without regrets and create a stage uniquely their own."
Meanwhile, marking its third iteration this year, GXG SOUND TRACK is South Korea's premier game music competition where contestants perform original compositions inspired by video games. Entries are welcome across all genres without limitation—including rock, band, hip-hop, R&B, traditional Korean music (gugak), and orchestra—and this year, original tracks are being recruited based on themes from 16 games across 15 game companies.
Serving as a stage to discover participants' potential and create opportunities for new challenges, applications for the "GXG 2026 Game Music Competition: The 3rd GXG SOUND TRACK" will be accepted through July 19 on the official GXG website (gxg.world). The six teams that pass the preliminary round will perform in the finals on September 11 (Fri) on the main stage at Pangyo Station Square, competing for a total prize pool of 21 million won.
Hosted by Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) and co-organized by the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency (President Lee Ju-yeon) and the Game Culture Foundation (Chairman Yoo Byung-han), the urban game culture festival "GXG 2026 (Game culture X Generation 2026)" will take place over two days from September 11 (Fri) to 12 (Sat) around Pangyo Station Square. The GXG SOUND TRACK finals will also serve as a flagship program of the festival.
